What Mark 11:8 means
As Jesus rode, many people spread their cloaks on the road before Him, while others laid down branches cut from the fields. This outpouring of reverence was a spontaneous act of honor typically reserved for royalty or conquering heroes. The spreading of garments and branches symbolized a welcoming procession for a king, visually declaring their recognition of Jesus's special status, however imperfect their understanding might have been.
