The Quiet Place

Mark tells us that very early, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place to pray.
It is easy to read past that detail. But the Son of God — the one who could heal with a word — needed silence before he needed anything else.
If he needed it, we need it. Not as one more task, but as the place from which the rest of the day is lived.
