What John 15:23 means

Jesus declares unequivocally that "He that hateth me hateth my Father also." This statement emphasizes the inseparable unity of the Father and the Son. To reject or despise Jesus is to reject and despise God Himself. There can be no true love for God that bypasses or denies the Son; hatred for Jesus is fundamentally an act of rebellion against the Father who sent Him.

Context

It makes it clear that the world's hatred of Jesus is not isolated but extends directly to the Father, forming a critical backdrop for Jesus' further evidence of their inexcusable sin.

v.22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin.

v.23This passage

v.24If I had not done among them the works which none other did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
