1Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
1Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
1Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bosra, this beautiful one in his robe, walking in the greatness of his strength. I, that speak justice, and am a defender to save.
1`Who <FI>is<Fi> this coming from Edom? With dyed garments from Bozrah? This that is honourable in his clothing, Travelling in the abundance of his power?' --`I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.'
2Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winevat?
2Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
2Why then is thy apparel red, and thy garments like theirs that tread in the winepress?
2`Wherefore <FI>is<Fi> thy clothing red? And thy garments as treading in a wine fat?'
3I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yea, I trod them in mine anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment.
3I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
3I have trodden the winepress alone, and of the Gentiles there is not a man with me: I have trampled on them in my indignation, and have trodden them down in my wrath, and their blood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my apparel.
3--`A wine-press I have trodden by myself, And of the peoples there is no one with me, And I tread them in mine anger, And I trample them in my fury, Sprinkled is their strength on my garments, And all my clothing I have polluted.
4For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
4For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
4For the day of vengeance is in my heart, the year of my redemption is come.
4For the day of vengeance <FI>is<Fi> in my heart, And the year of my redeemed hath come.
5And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my wrath, it upheld me.
5And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.
5I looked about, and there was none to help: I sought, and there was none to give aid: and my own arm hath saved for me, and my indignation itself hath helped me.
5And I look attentively, and there is none helping, And I am astonished that there is none supporting, And give salvation to me doth mine own arm. And my wrath--it hath supported me.
6And I trod down the peoples in mine anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.
6And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
6And I have trodden down the people in my wrath, and have made them drunk in my indignation, and have brought down their strength to the earth.
6And I tread down peoples in mine anger, And I make them drunk in my fury, And I bring down to earth their strength.
7I will make mention of the lovingkindnesses of Jehovah, and the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
7I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
7I will remember the tender mercies of the Lord, the praise of the Lord for all the things that the Lord hath bestowed upon us, and for the multitude of his good things to the house of Israel, which he hath given them according to his kindness, and according to the multitude of his mercies.
7The kind acts of Jehovah I make mention of, The praises of Jehovah, According to all that Jehovah hath done for us, And the abundance of the goodness to the house of Israel, That He hath done for them, According to His mercies, And according to the abundance of His kind acts.
8For he said, Surely, they are my people, children that will not deal falsely: so he was their Saviour.
8For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
8And he said: Surely they are my people, children that will not deny: so he became their saviour.
8And He saith, Only My people they <FI>are<Fi> , Sons--they lie not, and He is to them for a saviour.
9In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
9In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
9In all their affliction he was not troubled, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love, and in his mercy he redeemed them, and he carried them and lifted them up all the days of old.
9In all their distress <FI>He is<Fi> no adversary, And the messenger of His presence saved them, In His love and in His pity He redeemed them, And He doth lift them up, And beareth them all the days of old.
10But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, andhimself fought against them.
10But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
10But they provoked to wrath, and afflicted the spirit of his Holy One: and he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
10And they have rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit, And He turneth to them for an enemy, He Himself hath fought against them.
11Then he remembered the days of old, Mosesandhis people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit in the midst of them?
11Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?
11And he remembered the days of old of Moses, and of his people: Where is he that brought them up out of the sea, with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put in the midst of them the spirit of his Holy One?
11And He remembereth the days of old, Moses--his people. Where <FI>is<Fi> He who is bringing them up from the sea, The shepherd of his flock? Where <FI>is<Fi> He who is putting in its midst His Holy Spirit?
12that caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? that divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name?
12That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?
12He that brought out Moses by the right hand, by the arm of his majesty: that divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name.
12Leading by the right hand of Moses, the arm of His glory, Cleaving waters from before them, To make to Himself a name age-during.
13that led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they stumbled not?
13That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?
13He that led them out through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness that stumbleth not.
13Leading them through the depths, As a horse in a plain they stumble not.
14As the cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of Jehovah caused them to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.
14As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.
14As a beast that goeth down in the field, the spirit of the Lord was their leader: so didst thou lead thy people to make thyself a glorious name.
14As a beast into a valley goeth down, The Spirit of Jehovah causeth him to rest, So hast Thou led Thy people, To make to Thyself a glorious name.
15Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where are thy zeal and thy mighty acts? the yearning of thy heart and thy compassions are restrained toward me.
15Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?
15Look down from heaven, and behold from thy holy habitation and the place of thy glory: where is thy zeal, and thy strength, the multitude of thy bowels, and of thy mercies? they have held back themselves from me.
15Look attentively from the heavens, And see from Thy holy and beauteous habitation, Where <FI>is<Fi> Thy zeal and Thy might? The multitude of Thy bowels and Thy mercies Towards me have refrained themselves.
16For thou art our Father, though Abraham knoweth us not, and Israel doth not acknowledge us: thou, O Jehovah, art our Father; our Redeemer from everlasting is thy name.
16Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.
16For thou art our father, and Abraham hath not known us, and Israel hath been ignorant of us: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer, from everlasting is thy name.
16For Thou <FI>art<Fi> our Father, For Abraham hath not known us, And Israel doth not acknowledge us, Thou, O Jehovah, <FI>art<Fi> our Father, Our redeemer from the age, <FI>is<Fi> Thy name.
17O Jehovah, why dost thou make us to err from thy ways, and hardenest our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.
17O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.
17Why hast thou made us to err, O Lord, from thy ways: why hast thou hardened our heart, that we should not fear thee? return for the sake of thy servants, the tribes of thy inheritance.
17Why causest Thou us to wander, O Jehovah, from Thy ways? Thou hardenest our heart from Thy fear, Turn back for Thy servants' sake, The tribes of Thine inheritance.
18Thy holy people possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
18The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
18They have possessed thy holy people as nothing: our enemies have trodden down thy sanctuary.
18For a little while did Thy holy people possess, Our adversaries have trodden down Thy sanctuary.
19We are become as they over whom thou never barest rule, as they that were not called by thy name.
19We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.
19We are become as in the beginning, when thou didst not rule over us, and when we were not called by thy name.
19We have been from of old, Thou hast not ruled over them, Not called is Thy name upon them!
