What Revelation 7:10 means

The great multitude loudly ascribes salvation to “our God who sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb.” Their confession gives all credit to God’s sovereign reign and to the Lamb’s redemptive work. They do not boast in their endurance; they worship the One who saved them. The unity of God and the Lamb in this praise is striking: the same salvation belongs to both, showing the Lamb’s divine dignity. The loud voice signifies unashamed, communal gratitude. Before the throne, earthly divisions vanish; the redeemed agree in one message—that rescue from sin and wrath is God’s gift, accomplished through the Lamb.

Context

Having described the multitude’s appearance, the narrative now gives their song. This praise anchors the vision in the character and work of God and the Lamb. In the next verses, the angelic hosts, elders, and living creatures join in an answering doxology, swelling the chorus around the throne. After this wave of worship, an elder will question John about the multitude’s identity, leading to an authoritative explanation of their story.

v.9After these things I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and ofalltribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands;

v.10This passage
