1 Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, Neither be thou envious against them that work unrighteousness.

1A psalm for David, for a remembrance of the sabbath.

1By David. Do not fret because of evil doers, Be not envious against doers of iniquity,

2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.

2Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath.

2For as grass speedily they are cut off, And as the greenness of the tender grass do fade.

3Trust in Jehovah, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed onhisfaithfulness.

3For thy arrows are fastened in me: and thy hand hath been strong upon me.

3Trust in Jehovah, and do good, Dwell <FI>in<Fi> the land, and enjoy faithfulness,

4Delight thyself also in Jehovah; And he will give thee the desires of thy heart.

4There is no health in my flesh, because of thy wrath: there is no peace for my bones, because of my sins.

4And delight thyself on Jehovah, And He giveth to thee the petitions of thy heart.

5Commit thy way unto Jehovah; Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.

5For my iniquities are gone over my head: and as a heavy burden are become heavy upon me.

5Roll on Jehovah thy way, And trust upon Him, and He worketh,

6And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, And thy justice as the noonday.

6My sores are putrefied and corrupted, because of my foolishness.

6And hath brought out as light thy righteousness, And thy judgment as noon-day.

7Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

7I am become miserable, and am bowed down even to the end: I walked sorrowful all the day long.

7Be silent for Jehovah, and stay thyself for Him, Do not fret because of him Who is making prosperous his way, Because of a man doing wicked devices.

8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: Fret not thyself, it tendeth only to evil-doing.

8For my loins are filled with illusions; and there is no health in my flesh.

8Desist from anger, and forsake fury, Fret not thyself only to do evil.

9For evil-doers shall be cut off; But those that wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land.

9I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly: I roared with the groaning of my heart.

9For evil doers are cut off, As to those waiting on Jehovah, they possess the land.

10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be.

10Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hidden from thee.

10And yet a little, and the wicked is not, And thou hast considered his place, and it is not.

11But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

11My heart is troubled, my strength hath left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me.

11And the humble do possess the land, And they have delighted themselves In the abundance of peace.

12The wicked plotteth against the just, And gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

12My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off:

12The wicked is devising against the righteous, And gnashing against him his teeth.

13The Lord will laugh at him; For he seeth that his day is coming.

13And they that sought my soul used violence. And they that sought evils to me spoke vain things, and studied deceits all the day long.

13The Lord doth laugh at him, For He hath seen that his day cometh.

14The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay such as are upright in the way.

14But I, as a deaf man, heard not: and as a dumb man not opening his mouth.

14A sword have the wicked opened, And they have trodden their bow, To cause to fall the poor and needy, To slaughter the upright of the way.

15Their sword shall enter into their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.

15And I became as a man that heareth not: and that hath no reproofs in his mouth.

15Their sword doth enter into their own heart, And their bows are shivered.

16Better is a little that the righteous hath Than the abundance of many wicked.

16For in thee, O Lord, have I hoped: thou wilt hear me, O Lord my God.

16Better <FI>is<Fi> the little of the righteous, Than the store of many wicked.

17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; But Jehovah upholdeth the righteous.

17For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me: and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me.

17For the arms of the wicked are shivered, And Jehovah is sustaining the righteous.

18Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect; And their inheritance shall be for ever.

18For I am ready for scourges: and my sorrow is continually before me.

18Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect, And their inheritance is--to the age.

19They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil; And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

19For I will declare my iniquity: and I will think for my sin.

19They are not ashamed in a time of evil, And in days of famine they are satisfied.

20But the wicked shall perish, And the enemies of Jehovah shall be as the fat of lambs: They shall consume; in smoke shall they consume away.

20But my enemies live, and are stronger than I: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

20But the wicked perish, and the enemies of Jehovah, As the preciousness of lambs, Have been consumed, In smoke they have been consumed.

21The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again; But the righteous dealeth graciously, and giveth.

21They that render evil for good, have detracted me, because I followed goodness.

21The wicked is borrowing and repayeth not, And the righteous is gracious and giving.

22For such as are blessed of him shall inherit the land; And they that are cursed of him shall be cut off.

22For sake me not, O Lord my God: do not thou depart from me.

22For His blessed ones do possess the land, And His reviled ones are cut off.
