Mark 11

1And when they draw near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sends two of his disciples,

1And when they came near to Jerusalem, to Beth-phage and Bethany, at the Mountain of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

1And when they come nigh to Jerusalem, to Bethphage, and Bethany, unto the mount of the Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2and says to them, Go into the village which is over against you, and immediately on entering into it ye will find a colt tied, upon which no [child] of man has ever sat: loose it and lead it [here].

2And said to them, Go into the little town opposite: and when you come to it, you will see a young ass with a cord round his neck, on which no man has ever been seated; let him loose, and come back with him.

2and saith to them, `Go away to the village that is over-against you, and immediately, entering into it, ye shall find a colt tied, on which no one of men hath sat, having loosed it, bring <FI>it<Fi> :

3And if any one say to you, Why do ye this? say, The Lord has need of it; and straightway he sends it hither.

3And if anyone says to you, Why are you doing this? say, The Lord has need of him and will send him back straight away.

3and if any one may say to you, Why do ye this? say ye that the lord hath need of it, and immediately he will send it hither.'

4And they departed, and found a colt bound to the door without at the crossway, and they loose him.

4And they went away and saw a young ass by the door outside in the open street; and they were getting him loose.

4And they went away, and found the colt tied at the door without, by the two ways, and they loose it,

5And some of those who stood there said to them, What are ye doing, loosing the colt?

5And some of those who were there said to them, What are you doing, taking the ass?

5and certain of those standing there said to them, `What do ye--loosing the colt?'

6And they said to them as Jesus had commanded. And they let them [do it].

6And they said to them the words which Jesus had said; and they let them go.

6and they said to them as Jesus commanded, and they suffered them.

7And they led the colt to Jesus, and cast their clothes upon it, and he sat on it;

7And they took the young ass to Jesus, and put their clothing on him, and he got on his back.

7And they brought the colt unto Jesus, and did cast upon it their garments, and he sat upon it,

8and many strewed their clothes on the way, and others cut down branches from the trees [and went on strewing them on the way].

8And a great number put down their clothing in the way; and others put down branches which they had taken from the fields.

8and many did spread their garments in the way, and others were cutting down branches from the trees, and were strewing in the way.

9And those going on before and those following cried out, Hosanna! blessed [be] he that comes in [the] Lord's name.

9And those who went in front, and those who came after, were crying, Glory: A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord:

9And those going before and those following were crying out, saying, `Hosanna! blessed <FI>is<Fi> he who is coming in the name of the Lord;

10Blessed [be] the coming kingdom of our father David. Hosanna in the highest!

10A blessing on the coming kingdom of our father David: Glory in the highest.

10blessed is the coming reign, in the name of the Lord, of our father David; Hosanna in the highest.'

11And he entered into Jerusalem and into the temple; and having looked round on all things, the hour being already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.

11And he went into Jerusalem into the Temple; and after looking round about on all things, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.

11And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple, and having looked round on all things, it being now evening, he went forth to Bethany with the twelve.

12And on the morrow, when they were gone out of Bethany, he hungered.

12And on the day after, when they had come out from Bethany, he was in need of food.

12And on the morrow, they having come forth from Bethany, he hungered,

13And seeing from afar off a fig-tree which had leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find something on it. And having come up to it he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the time of figs.

13And seeing a fig-tree in the distance with leaves, he went to see if by chance it had anything on it: and when he came to it, he saw nothing but leaves, for it was not the time for the fruit.

13and having seen a fig-tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he shall find anything in it, and having come to it, he found nothing except leaves, for it was not a time of figs,

14And answering he said to it, Let no one eat fruit of thee any more for ever. And his disciples heard [it].

14And he said to it, Let no man take fruit from you for ever. And his disciples took note of his words.

14and Jesus answering said to it, `No more from thee--to the age--may any eat fruit;' and his disciples were hearing.

15And they come to Jerusalem, and entering into the temple, he began to cast out those who sold and who bought in the temple, and he overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of the dove-sellers,

15And they came to Jerusalem; and he went into the Temple, and sent out those who were trading there, overturning the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who were offering doves for money;

15And they come to Jerusalem, and Jesus having gone into the temple, began to cast forth those selling and buying in the temple, and the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those selling the doves, he overthrew,

16and suffered not that any one should carry any package through the temple.

16And he would not let any man take a vessel through the Temple.

16and he did not suffer that any might bear a vessel through the temple,

17And he taught saying to them, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? but ye have made it a den of robbers.

17And he gave them teaching, and said to them, Is it not in the Writings, My house is to be named a house of prayer for all the nations? but you have made it a hole of thieves.

17and he was teaching, saying to them, `Hath it not been written--My house a house of prayer shall be called for all the nations, and ye did make it a den of robbers?'

18And the chief priests and the scribes heard [it], and they sought how they might destroy him; for they feared him, because all the crowd were astonished at his doctrine.

18And it came to the ears of the chief priests and scribes, and they took thought how they might put him to death; being in fear of him, because all the people were full of wonder at his teaching.

18And the scribes and the chief priests heard, and they were seeking how they shall destroy him, for they were afraid of him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching;

19And when it was evening he went forth without the city.

19And every evening he went out of the town.

19and when evening came, he was going forth without the city.

20And passing by early in the morning they saw the fig-tree dried up from the roots.

20And when they were going by in the morning, they saw the fig-tree dead from the roots.

20And in the morning, passing by, they saw the fig-tree having been dried up from the roots,

21And Peter, remembering [what Jesus had said], says to him, Rabbi, see, the fig-tree which thou cursedst is dried up.

21And Peter, having a memory of it, said to him, Master, see, the tree which was cursed by you is dead.

21and Peter having remembered saith to him, `Rabbi, lo, the fig-tree that thou didst curse is dried up.'

22And Jesus answering says to them, Have faith inGod.

22And Jesus, answering, said to them, Have God's faith.

22And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God;

23Verily I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou taken away and cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but believe that what he says takes place, whatever he shall say shall come to pass for him.

23Truly I say to you, Whoever says to this mountain, Be taken up and be put into the sea; and has no doubt in his heart, but has faith that what he says will come about, he will have his desire.

23for verily I say to you, that whoever may say to this mount, Be taken up, and be cast into the sea, and may not doubt in his heart, but may believe that the things that he saith do come to pass, it shall be to him whatever he may say.

24For this reason I say to you, All things whatsoever ye pray for and ask, believe that ye receive it, and it shall come to pass for you.

24For this reason I say to you, Whatever you make a request for in prayer, have faith that it has been given to you, and you will have it.

24Because of this I say to you, all whatever--praying--ye do ask, believe that ye receive, and it shall be to you.

25And when ye stand praying, forgive if ye have anything against any one, that your Father also who is in the heavens may forgive you your offences.

25And whenever you make a prayer, let there be forgiveness in your hearts, if you have anything against anyone; so that you may have forgiveness for your sins from your Father who is in heaven.

25`And whenever ye may stand praying, forgive, if ye have anything against any one, that your Father also who is in the heavens may forgive you your trespasses;

26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in the heavens forgive your offences.

26and, if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in the heavens forgive your trespasses.'

27And they come again to Jerusalem. And as he walked about in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders come to him,

27And they came again to Jerusalem: and while he was walking in the Temple, there came to him the chief priests and the scribes and those in authority:

27And they come again to Jerusalem, and in the temple, as he is walking, there come unto him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

28and they say to him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority, that thou shouldest do these things?

28And they said to him, By what authority do you do these things? or who gave you authority to do these things?

28and they say to him, `By what authority dost thou these things? and who gave thee this authority that these things thou mayest do?'

29And Jesus answering said to them, I also will ask you one thing, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:

29And Jesus said to them, I will put to you one question; give me an answer, and I will say by what authority I do these things.

29And Jesus answering said to them, `I will question you--I also--one word; and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things;

30The baptism of John, was it of heaven, or of men? answer me.

30The baptism of John, was it from heaven or from men? give me an answer.

30the baptism of John--from heaven was it? or from men? answer me.'

31And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say, Why [then] have ye not believed him?

31And they gave thought to it among themselves, saying, If we say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did you not have faith in him?

31And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, `If we may say, From heaven, he will say, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him?

32but should we say, Of men — they feared the people; for all held of John that he was truly a prophet.

32But if we say, From men--they were in fear of the people, because all took John to be truly a prophet.

32But if we may say, From men,' --they were fearing the people, for all were holding John that he was indeed a prophet;

33And they answering say to Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus [answering] says to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

33And they said in answer to Jesus, We have no idea. And Jesus said to them, And I will not say to you by what authority I do these things.

33and answering they say to Jesus, `We have not known;' and Jesus answering saith to them, `Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.'
