What John 9:37 means
Jesus reveals Himself plainly: “Thou hast both seen him, and he it is that speaketh with thee.” The man who had never seen now sees the Son of God with his own eyes. Jesus ties the gift of sight to the greater gift of revelation—physical healing served a higher end. This clear self-disclosure leaves no ambiguity about Jesus’ identity. The One who gave him sight is the One worthy of faith. Here the sign reaches its intended goal: leading a person to recognize and trust Jesus as the Son of God, the rightful object of faith and worship.

Context
This statement answers the man’s request for identification. It completes the arc from ignorance to recognition. With Jesus’ identity made explicit, the narrative approaches its climax in the man’s response. The scene stands in contrast to the leaders’ claim of not knowing where Jesus is from. Whereas they remain blind by choice, this man is granted sight and understanding. The next verse will record his confession and worship, the fitting response to the revelation just given.
