1`Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, also in me believe;
1Let not your heart be troubled: have faith in God and have faith in me.
2in the house of my Father are many mansions; and if not, I would have told you; I go on to prepare a place for you;
2In my Father's house are rooms enough; if it was not so, would I have said that I am going to make ready a place for you?
3and if I go on and prepare for you a place, again do I come, and will receive you unto myself, that where I am ye also may be;
3And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to be with me, so that you may be where I am.
4and whither I go away ye have known, and the way ye have known.'
4And you all have knowledge of where I am going, and of the way to it.
5Thomas saith to him, `Sir, we have not known whither thou goest away, and how are we able to know the way?'
5Thomas said, Lord, we have no knowledge of where you are going; how may we have knowledge of the way?
6Jesus saith to him, `I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one doth come unto the Father, if not through me;
6Jesus said to him, I am the true and living way: no one comes to the Father but by me.
7if ye had known me, my Father also ye would have known, and from this time ye have known Him, and have seen Him.'
7If you had knowledge of me, you would have knowledge of my Father: you have knowledge of him now and have seen him.
8Philip saith to him, `Sir, shew to us the Father, and it is enough for us;'
8Philip said to him, Lord, let us see the Father, and we have need of nothing more.
9Jesus saith to him, `So long time am I with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? he who hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how dost thou say, Shew to us the Father?
9Jesus said to him, Philip, have I been with you all this time, and still you have no knowledge of me? He who has seen me has seen the Father. Why do you say, Let us see the Father?
10Believest thou not that I <FI>am<Fi> in the Father, and the Father is in me? the sayings that I speak to you, from myself I speak not, and the Father who is abiding in me, Himself doth the works;
10Have you not faith that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words which I say to you, I say not from myself: but the Father who is in me all the time does his works.
11believe me, that I <FI>am<Fi> in the Father, and the Father in me; and if not, because of the works themselves, believe me.
11Have faith that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me: at least, have faith in me because of what I do.
12`Verily, verily, I say to you, he who is believing in me, the works that I do--that one also shall do, and greater than these he shall do, because I go on to my Father;
12Truly I say to you, He who puts his faith in me will do the very works which I do, and he will do greater things than these, because I am going to my Father.
13and whatever ye may ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
13And whatever request you make in my name, that I will do, so that the Father may have glory in the Son.
14if ye ask anything in my name I will do <FI>it<Fi> .
14If you make any request to me in my name, I will do it.
16and I will ask the Father, and another Comforter He will give to you, that he may remain with you--to the age;
16And I will make prayer to the Father and he will give you another Helper to be with you for ever,
17the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it doth not behold him, nor know him, and ye know him, because he doth remain with you, and shall be in you.
17Even the Spirit of true knowledge. That Spirit the world is not able to take to its heart because it sees him not and has no knowledge of him: but you have knowledge of him, because he is ever with you and will be in you.
18`I will not leave you bereaved, I come unto you;
18I will not let you be without a friend: I am coming to you.
19yet a little, and the world doth no more behold me, and ye behold me, because I live, and ye shall live;
19A little time longer, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me; and you will be living because I am living.
20in that day ye shall know that I <FI>am<Fi> in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you;
20At that time it will be clear to you that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I in you.
21he who is having my commands, and is keeping them, that one it is who is loving me, and he who is loving me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.'
21He who has my laws and keeps them, he it is who has love for me: and he who has love for me will be loved by my Father, and I will have love for him and will let myself be seen clearly by him.
22Judas saith to him, (not the Iscariot), `Sir, what hath come to pass, that to us thou are about to manifest thyself, and not to the world?'
22Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, How is it that you will let yourself be seen clearly by us and not by the world?
23Jesus answered and said to him, `If any one may love me, my word he will keep, and my Father will love him, and unto him we will come, and abode with him we will make;
23Jesus said to him in answer, If anyone has love for me, he will keep my words: and he will be dear to my Father; and we will come to him and make our living-place with him.
24he who is not loving me, my words doth not keep; and the word that ye hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.
24He who has no love for me does not keep my words; and the word which you are hearing is not my word but the Father's who sent me.
25`These things I have spoken to you, remaining with you,
25I have said all this to you while I am still with you.
26and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you.
26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will be your teacher in all things and will put you in mind of everything I have said to you.
27`Peace I leave to you; my peace I give to you, not according as the world doth give do I give to you; let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid;
27May peace be with you; my peace I give to you: I give it not as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled; let it be without fear.
28ye heard that I said to you--I go away, and I come unto you; if ye did love me, ye would have rejoiced that I said--I go on to the Father, because my Father is greater than I.
28Keep in mind how I said to you, I go away and come to you again. If you had love for me you would be glad, because I am going to the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
29`And now I have said <FI>it<Fi> to you before it come to pass, that when it may come to pass, ye may believe;
29And now I have given you word of it before it comes, so that, when it comes, you may have faith.
