1 Corinthians 15

1Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,

1Now I am going to make clear to you, my brothers, what the good news was which I gave to you, and which you took, and on which your faith is based,

2by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.

2By which also you are saved, if you hold fast after what manner I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.

2By which you have salvation; that is to say, the form in which it was given to you, if it is fixed in your minds, and if your faith in it is not without effect.

3For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

11Whether then it be I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

12Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

12Now if the good news says that Christ came back from the dead, how do some of you say that there is no coming back from the dead?

13But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised:

14and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain.

15Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised.

15Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God: because we have given testimony against God, that he hath raised up Christ, whom he hath not raised up, if the dead rise not again.

15Yes, and we are seen to be false witnesses of God; because we gave witness of God that by his power Christ came again from the dead: which is not true if there is no coming back from the dead.

16For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:

16For if the dead rise not again, neither is Christ risen again.

16For if it is not possible for the dead to come to life again, then Christ has not come to life again:

17and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

28And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.

29Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?

29Again, what will they do who are given baptism for the dead? if the dead do not come back at all, why are people given baptism for them?

30why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?

31I protest by that glorying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

31Yes, truly, by your pride in me, my brothers in Christ Jesus our Lord, my life is one long death.

32If after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

32If (according to man) I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me, if the dead rise not again? Let us eat and drink, for to morrow we shall die.

32If, after the way of men, I was fighting with beasts at Ephesus, what profit is it to me? If the dead do not come to life again, let us take our pleasure in feasting, for tomorrow we come to an end.

33Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.

33Do not be tricked by false words: evil company does damage to good behaviour.

34Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak this to move you to shame.

35But some one will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come?

36Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:

36Senseless man, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die first.

36Foolish man, it is necessary for the seed which you put into the earth to undergo death in order that it may come to life again:

37and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;

37And when you put it into the earth, you do not put in the body which it will be, but only the seed, of grain or some other sort of plant;

38but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.

43It is planted in shame; it comes again in glory: feeble when it is planted, it comes again in power:

44it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

44It is planted a natural body; it comes again as a body of the spirit. If there is a natural body, there is equally a body of the spirit.

45So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

45And so it is said, The first man Adam was a living soul. The last Adam is a life-giving spirit.

46Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.

46Yet that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural: afterwards that which is spiritual.

46But that which is natural comes before that which is of the spirit.

47The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.

49And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,

51See, I am giving you the revelation of a secret: we will not all come to the sleep of death, but we will all be changed.

52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall rise again incorruptible. And we shall be changed.

52In a second, in the shutting of an eye, at the sound of the last horn: for at that sound the dead will come again, free for ever from the power of death, and we will be changed.

53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

53For this body which comes to destruction will be made free from the power of death, and the man who is under the power of death will put on eternal life.

54But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

54And when this mortal hath put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory.

54But when this has taken place, then that which was said in the Writings will come true, Death is overcome by life.

55O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?

55O death, where is your power? O death, where are your pains?

56The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:

56Now the sting of death is sin: and the power of sin is the law.

56The pain of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:

57but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

57But praise be to God who gives us strength to overcome through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.

58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast and unmoveable: always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

58For this cause, my dear brothers, be strong in purpose and unmoved, ever giving yourselves to the work of the Lord, because you are certain that your work is not without effect in the Lord.
