1Now concerning spiritualgifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
1But concerning spiritual [manifestations], brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant.
1But about the things of the spirit, my brothers, it is not right for you to be without teaching.
2Ye know that when ye were Gentiles ye were led away unto those dumb idols, howsoever ye might be led.
2Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
2Ye know that when ye were [of the] nations [ye were] led away to dumb idols, in whatever way ye might be led.
2You are conscious that when you were Gentiles, in whatever way you were guided, you went after images without voice or power.
3Wherefore I make known unto you, that no man speaking in the Spirit of God saith, Jesus is anathema; and no man can say, Jesus is Lord, but in the Holy Spirit.
3Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
3I give you therefore to know, that no one, speaking in [the power of the] Spirit ofGod, says, Curse [on] Jesus; and no one can say, Lord Jesus, unless in [the power of the] Holy Spirit.
3So it is my desire for you to be clear about this; that no one is able to say by the Spirit of God that Jesus is cursed; and no one is able to say that Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.
4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
4But there are distinctions of gifts, but the same Spirit;
4Now there are different qualities given to men, but the same Spirit.
5And there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord.
5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
5and there are distinctions of services, and the same Lord;
5And there are different sorts of servants, but the same Lord.
6And there are diversities of workings, but the same God, who worketh all things in all.
6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
6and there are distinctions of operations, but the sameGod who operates all things in all.
6And there are different operations, but the same God, who is working all things in all.
7But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit withal.
7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
7But to each the manifestation of the Spirit is given for profit.
7But to every man some form of the Spirit's working is given for the common good.
8For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:
8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
8For to one, by the Spirit, is given [the] word of wisdom; and to another [the] word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;
8For to one are given words of wisdom through the Spirit; and to another words of knowledge through the same Spirit:
9to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit;
9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
9and to a different one faith, in [the power of] the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healing in [the power of] the same Spirit;
9To another faith in the same Spirit; and to another the power of taking away disease, by the one Spirit;
10and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits: to another divers kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues:
10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
10and to another operations of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; and to a different one kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues.
10And to another the power of working wonders; and to another the prophet's word; and to another the power of testing spirits; to another different sorts of tongues; and to another the power of making clear the sense of the tongues:
11but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will.
11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
11But all these things operates the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each in particular according as he pleases.
11But all these are the operations of the one and the same Spirit, giving to every man separately as his pleasure is.
12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.
12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
12For even as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so also [is] the Christ.
12For as the body is one, and has a number of parts, and all the parts make one body, so is Christ.
13For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit.
13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
13For also in [the power of] one Spirit we have all been baptised into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bondmen or free, and have all been given to drink of one Spirit.
13For through the baptism of the one Spirit we were all formed into one body, Jews or Greeks, servants or free men, and were all made full of the same Spirit.
14For the body is not one member, but many.
14For the body is not one member, but many.
14For also the body is not one member but many.
14For the body is not one part, but a number of parts.
15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.
15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
15If the foot say, Because I am not a hand I am not of the body, is it on account of this not indeed of the body?
15If the foot says, Because I am not the hand, I am not a part of the body; it is no less a part of the body.
16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.
16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16And if the ear say, Because I am not an eye I am not of the body, is it on account of this not indeed of the body?
16And if the ear says, Because I am not the eye, I am not a part of the body; it is a part of the body all the same.
17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
17If the whole body [were] an eye, where the hearing? if all hearing, where the smelling?
17If all the body was an eye, where would be the hearing? if all was hearing, where would be the smelling?
18But now hath God set the members each one of them in the body, even as it pleased him.
18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
18But nowGod has set the members, each one of them in the body, according as it has pleased [him].
18But now God has put every one of the parts in the body as it was pleasing to him.
19And if they were all one member, where were the body?
19And if they were all one member, where were the body?
19But if all were one member, where the body?
19And if they were all one part, where would the body be?
20But now they are many members, but one body.
20But now are they many members, yet but one body.
20But now the members [are] many, and the body one.
20But now they are all different parts, but one body.
21And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
21And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
21The eye cannot say to the hand, I have not need of thee; or again, the head to the feet, I have not need of you.
21And the eye may not say to the hand, I have no need of you: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22Nay, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be more feeble are necessary:
22Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
22But much rather, the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary;
22No, those parts which seem to be feeble are the more necessary;
23and those parts of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness;
23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
23and those [parts] of the body which we esteem to be the more void of honour, these we clothe with more abundant honour; and our uncomely [parts] have more abundant comeliness;
23And to those parts of the body which seem to have less honour we give all the more honour; and to those parts of the body which are a cause of shame to us we give the greater respect;
24whereas our comely parts have no need: but God tempered the body together, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked;
24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
24but our comely [parts] have not need. ButGod has tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to [the part] that lacked;
24But those parts of the body which are beautiful have no need of such care: and so the body has been joined together by God in such a way as to give more honour to those parts which had need of it;
25that there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
25That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
25that there might be no division in the body, but that the members might have the same concern one for another.
25So that there might be no division in the body; but all the parts might have the same care for one another.
26And whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it; or one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
26And if one member suffer, all the members suffer with [it]; and if one member be glorified, all the members rejoice with [it].
26And if there is pain in one part of the body, all the parts will be feeling it; or if one part is honoured, all the parts will be glad.
27Now ye are the body of Christ, and severally members thereof.
27Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
27Now ye are Christ's body, and members in particular.
27Now you are the body of Christ, and every one of you the separate parts of it.
28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, divers kinds of tongues.
28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
28AndGod has set certain in the assembly: first, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers; then miraculous powers; then gifts of healings; helps; governments; kinds of tongues.
28And God has put some in the church, first, Apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then those with wonder-working powers, then those with the power of taking away disease, helpers, wise guides, users of strange tongues.
29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
29[Are] all apostles? [are] all prophets? [are] all teachers? [are] all [in possession of] miraculous powers?
29Are all Apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? have all the power of working wonders?
30have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
30Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
30have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
30Are all able to take away disease? have all the power of tongues? are all able to give their sense?
31But desire earnestly the greater gifts. And moreover a most excellent way show I unto you.
31But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
31But desire earnestly the greater gifts, and yet shew I unto you a way of more surpassing excellence.
31But let your desires be turned to the more important things given by the Spirit. And now I am pointing out to you an even better way.
