1Be ye followers of me, as I also am of Christ.
1Followers of me become ye, as I also <FI>am<Fi> of Christ.
1So take me for your example, even as I take Christ for mine.
2Now I praise you, brethren, that in all things you are mindful of me and keep my ordinances as I have delivered them to you.
2And I praise you, brethren, that in all things ye remember me, and according as I did deliver to you, the deliverances ye keep,
2Now I am pleased to see that you keep me in memory in all things, and that you give attention to the teaching which was handed down from me to you.
3But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ: and the head of the woman is the man: and the head of Christ is God.
3and I wish you to know that of every man the head is the Christ, and the head of a woman is the husband, and the head of Christ is God.
3But it is important for you to keep this fact in mind, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God.
4Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered disgraceth his head.
4Every man praying or prophesying, having the head covered, doth dishonour his head,
4Every man who takes part in prayer, or gives teaching as a prophet, with his head covered, puts shame on his head.
5But every woman praying or prophesying with her head not covered disgraceth her head: for it is all one as if she were shaven.
5and every woman praying or prophesying with the head uncovered, doth dishonour her own head, for it is one and the same thing with her being shaven,
5But every woman who does so with her head unveiled, puts shame on her head: for it is the same as if her hair was cut off.
6For if a woman be not covered, let her be shorn. But if it be a shame to a woman to be shorn or made bald, let her cover her head.
6for if a woman is not covered--then let her be shorn, and if <FI>it is<Fi> a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven--let her be covered;
6For if a woman is not veiled, let her hair be cut off; but if it is a shame to a woman to have her hair cut off, let her be veiled.
7The man indeed ought not to cover his head: because he is the image and glory of God. But the woman is the glory of the man.
7for a man, indeed, ought not to cover the head, being the image and glory of God, and a woman is the glory of a man,
7For it is not right for a man to have his head covered, because he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

12For as the woman is of the man, so also is the man by the woman: but all things of God.

12For as the woman is from the man, so the man is through the woman; but all things are from God.
13You yourselves judge. Doth it become a woman to pray unto God uncovered?
13In your own selves judge ye; is it seemly for a woman uncovered to pray to God?
13Be judges yourselves of the question: does it seem right for a woman to take part in prayer unveiled?
14Doth not even nature itself teach you that a man indeed, if he nourish his hair, it is a shame unto him?
14doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man indeed have long hair, a dishonour it is to him?
14Does it not seem natural to you that if a man has long hair, it is a cause of shame to him?
15But if a woman nourish her hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering.
15and a woman, if she have long hair, a glory it is to her, because the hair instead of a covering hath been given to her;
15But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given to her for a covering.
16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor the Church of God.
16and if any one doth think to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the assemblies of God.
16But if any man will not be ruled in this question, this is not our way of doing things, and it is not done in the churches of God.
17Now this I ordain: not praising you, that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse.
17And this declaring, I give no praise, because not for the better, but for the worse ye come together;
17But in giving you this order, there is one thing about which I am not pleased: it is that when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
18For first of all I hear that when you come together in the church, there are schisms among you. And in part I believe it.
18for first, indeed, ye coming together in an assembly, I hear of divisions being among you, and partly I believe <FI>it<Fi> ,
18For first of all, it has come to my ears that when you come together in the church, there are divisions among you, and I take the statement to be true in part.
19For there must be also heresies: that they also, who are approved may be made manifest among you.
19for it behoveth sects also to be among you, that those approved may become manifest among you;
19For divisions are necessary among you, in order that those who have God's approval may be clearly seen among you.
20When you come therefore together into one place, it is not now to eat the Lord's supper.
20ye, then, coming together at the same place--it is not to eat the Lord's supper;
20But now, when you come together, it is not possible to take the holy meal of the Lord:
21For every one taketh before his own supper to eat. And one indeed is hungry and another is drunk.
21for each his own supper doth take before in the eating, and one is hungry, and another is drunk;
21For when you take your food, everyone takes his meal before the other; and one has not enough food, and another is the worse for drink.
22What, have you no houses to eat and to drink in? Or despise ye the church of God and put them to shame that have not? What shall I say to you? Do I praise you? In this I praise you not.
22why, have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or the assembly of God do ye despise, and shame those not having? what may I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I do not praise!
22What? have you not houses to take your meals in? or have you no respect for the church of God, putting the poor to shame? What am I to say to you? am I to give you praise? certainly not.
23For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread,
23For I--I received from the Lord that which also I did deliver to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was delivered up, took bread,
23For it was handed down to me from the Lord, as I gave it to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night when Judas was false to him, took bread,
24And giving thanks, broke and said: Take ye and eat: This is my body, which shall be delivered for you. This do for the commemoration of me.
24and having given thanks, he brake, and said, `Take ye, eat ye, this is my body, that for you is being broken; this do ye--to the remembrance of me.'
24And when it had been broken with an act of praise, he said, This is my body which is for you: do this in memory of me.
25In like manner also the chalice, after he had supped, saying: This chalice is the new testament in my blood. This do ye, as often as you shall drink, for the commemoration of me.
25In like manner also the cup after the supping, saying, `This cup is the new covenant in my blood; this do ye, as often as ye may drink <FI>it<Fi> --to the remembrance of me;'
25In the same way, with the cup, after the meal, he said, This cup is the new testament in my blood: do this, whenever you take it, in memory of me.
26For as often as you shall eat this bread and drink the chalice, you shall shew the death of the Lord, until he come.
26for as often as ye may eat this bread, and this cup may drink, the death of the Lord ye do shew forth--till he may come;
26For whenever you take the bread and the cup you give witness to the Lord's death till he comes.
27Therefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord.
27so that whoever may eat this bread or may drink the cup of the Lord unworthily, guilty he shall be of the body and blood of the Lord:
27If, then, anyone takes the bread or the cup of the Lord in the wrong spirit, he will be responsible for the body and blood of the Lord.
28But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread and drink of the chalice.
28and let a man be proving himself, and so of the bread let him eat, and of the cup let him drink;
28But let no man take of the bread and the cup without testing himself.
29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord.
29for he who is eating and drinking unworthily, judgment to himself he doth eat and drink--not discerning the body of the Lord.
29For a man puts himself in danger, if he takes part in the holy meal without being conscious that it is the Lord's body.
30Therefore are there many infirm and weak among you: and many sleep.
30Because of this, among you many <FI>are<Fi> weak and sickly, and sleep do many;
30For this cause a number of you are feeble and ill, and a number are dead.
31But if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
31for if ourselves we were discerning, we would not be being judged,
31But if we were true judges of ourselves, punishment would not come on us.
32But whilst we are judged, we are chastised by the Lord, that we be not condemned with this world.
32and being judged by the Lord, we are chastened, that with the world we may not be condemned;
32But if punishment does come, it is sent by the Lord, so that we may be safe when the world is judged.
33Wherefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.
33so then, my brethren, coming together to eat, for one another wait ye;
33So then, my brothers, when you come together to the holy meal of the Lord, let there be waiting for one another.
34If any man be hungry, let him eat at home; that you come not together unto judgment. And the rest I will set in order, when I come.
34and if any one is hungry, at home let him eat, that to judgment ye may not come together; and the rest, whenever I may come, I shall arrange.
34If any man is in need of food, let him take his meal in his house; so that you may not come together to your damage. And the rest I will put in order when I come.
