What Romans 4:25 means
Jesus was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. His death addresses the problem of sin; He bore the consequences we deserved. His resurrection declares the success and acceptance of that sacrifice, securing the verdict of righteousness for those who believe. The cross and the empty tomb are two parts of one saving act: the first removes guilt; the second confirms and applies the right standing before God. Our justification is not built on our efforts but on Jesus’ finished work, vindicated by God. In this way, Abraham’s faith in God’s life-giving promise finds its fulfillment in faith in the crucified and risen Lord.

Context
This final verse ties the whole chapter together. Abraham’s justification by faith anticipates the gospel: God justifies the ungodly who believe. Now the content is explicit—Jesus’ death for trespasses and His resurrection for our justification. With this, Paul has shown that the Old Testament pattern and the New Testament fulfillment agree: righteousness comes by grace through faith, rooted in God’s promise and power, and centered in Jesus Christ.
