What Romans 15:30 means

Paul earnestly appeals to the brothers and sisters, by the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of the Spirit, to strive together with him in prayer. Prayer is real partnership in mission—wrestling together before God for gospel success and protection. He invokes the deepest bonds of Christian unity: shared devotion to Christ and the Spirit’s love among them. Even an apostle depends on the intercession of the church. The work is spiritual; therefore the means must be spiritual. Strenuous, united prayer lays hold of God’s help where human plans cannot reach.

Context

After expressing confidence in Christ’s blessing for his visit (v.29), Paul requests prayer (v.30). He grounds the appeal in their common Lord and the Spirit’s love. The next verse (v.31) will specify two requests: deliverance from hostile people in Judæa and acceptance of his service by the saints in Jerusalem. Verse 32 will add the hope of joyful arrival at Rome. The sequence models humble dependence amid bold plans.

v.29And I know that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of Christ.

v.30This passage

v.31that I may be delivered from them that are disobedient in Judæa, and that my ministration which I have for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints;
