What Romans 15:29 means

Paul is confident that when he comes to Rome, he will arrive in the fullness of the blessing of Christ. He expects his visit to be spiritually rich, not merely logistical. Christ’s presence and favor will mark their fellowship and partnership. This confidence rests not in smooth circumstances but in the Lord’s faithfulness to bless gospel endeavors. Anticipating mutual encouragement, Paul believes their time together will overflow with grace that strengthens both his mission and their ministry in Rome.

Context

Having stated his plan to come after completing the collection (v.28), Paul now expresses assurance about the quality of that visit (v.29): it will be full of Christ’s blessing. With that hope set, he turns in verses 30–32 to ask for earnest prayer, recognizing obstacles ahead in Jerusalem and on the journey. The flow couples confident expectation with humble dependence on the prayers of the saints.

v.28When therefore I have accomplished this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go on by you unto Spain.

v.29This passage

v.30Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
