Revelation 7

1After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that no wind should blow on the earth, or on the sea, or upon any tree.

1After this, I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth. They were holding back the four winds of the earth so that no wind would blow on the land, the sea, or any tree.

2And I saw another angel ascend from the sunrising, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a great voice to the four angels to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

2Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, carrying the seal of the living God. He shouted with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given the power to damage the land and the sea.

3saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we shall have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.

3He said, 'Do not harm the land, the sea, or the trees until we have put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.'

4And I heard the number of them that were sealed, a hundred and forty and four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the children of Israel:

4I heard how many people were sealed: 144,000. They were sealed from every tribe of the people of Israel.

5Of the tribe of Judahweresealed twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand;

5There were 12,000 sealed from the tribe of Judah, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, and 12,000 from the tribe of Gad.

6Of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand;

6There were 12,000 from the tribe of Asher, 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali, and 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh.

7Of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand;

7There were 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 from the tribe of Levi, and 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar.

8Of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Benjaminweresealed twelve thousand.

8There were 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph, and 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin.

9After these things I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and ofalltribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands;

9After this, I looked and saw a huge crowd that no one could count. They were from every nation, tribe, people, and language. They stood in front of the throne and the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.

10and they cry with a great voice, saying, Salvation unto our God who sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb.

10They shouted with a loud voice, 'Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!'

11And all the angels were standing round about the throne, andaboutthe elders and the four living creatures; and they fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,

11All the angels stood around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures. They fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God.

12saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

12They said, 'Amen! Blessing, glory, wisdom, thanks, honor, power, and strength belong to our God forever and ever. Amen.'

13And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, These that are arrayed in the white robes, who are they, and whence came they?

13Then one of the elders asked me, 'Who are these people wearing white robes, and where did they come from?'

14And I say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

14I answered him, 'Sir, you know.' Then he told me, 'These are the ones who have come out of the great suffering. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15Therefore are they before the throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them.

15That is why they are in front of God's throne. They serve him day and night in his temple, and the one sitting on the throne will protect them with his presence.

16They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike upon them, nor any heat:

16They will never be hungry or thirsty again. The sun will not beat down on them, and they will not suffer from any heat.

17for the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.

17For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.
