Revelation 5

1And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the back, close sealed with seven seals.

1Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the one sitting on the throne; it had writing on both sides and was kept shut with seven seals.

2And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

2I saw a powerful angel calling out in a loud voice, 'Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?'

3And no one in the heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon.

3But no one in heaven, or on earth, or under the earth was able to open the scroll or even look inside it.

4And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look thereon:

4I cried and cried because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or look inside.

5and one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not; behold, the Lion that is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath overcome to open the book and the seven seals thereof.

5Then one of the elders said to me, 'Stop crying! Look, the Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has won the victory. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.'

6And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.

6Then I saw a Lamb standing in the center of the throne, surrounded by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb looked as if it had been killed. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

7And he came, and he taketh it out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne.

7He came and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne.

8And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

8When he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders bowed down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

9And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood men of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,

9And they sang a new song: 'You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were killed, and with your blood you bought people for God from every tribe, language, people, and nation.'

10and madest them to be unto our God a kingdom and priests; and they reign upon the earth.

10'You have made them to be a kingdom and priests for our God, and they will rule on the earth.'

11And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

11Then I looked and heard the voices of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders. There were millions and millions of them—thousands upon thousands.

12saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb that hath been slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and might, and honor, and glory, and blessing.

12They shouted in a loud voice, 'The Lamb who was killed is worthy to receive power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and praise!'

13And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things that are in them, heard I saying, Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever.

13Then I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and in the sea—everything in the world—singing: 'To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise, honor, glory, and power forever and ever!'

14And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped.

14The four living creatures said, 'Amen!' and the elders bowed down and worshiped.
