What Revelation 5:14 means

The four living creatures affirm the universal doxology with their “Amen,” a solemn assent that what has been declared is true and right. The elders fall down and worship, concluding the scene in humility and awe. Heaven’s ordered worship has recognized the Lamb’s worthiness, united the voices of council, angels, and creation, and now rests in reverent silence before action resumes. This closing act teaches that adoration precedes and interprets judgment; the seals will open under the banner of God’s praised justice and grace. The proper response to the Lamb’s authority is worship that yields and trusts.

Context

The universal chorus has just sounded. Verse 14 serves as the liturgical seal on the chapter’s vision. The living creatures, who led worship in chapter 4, say “Amen,” and the elders prostrate themselves, as they did earlier before God and now before the Lamb. With the worship complete, the stage is set for chapter 6, where the Lamb begins to open the seals. This final note ties together the themes of the chapter—worth, worship, and authority—before the narrative advances into the judgments to come.

v.13And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things that are in them, heard I saying, Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever.
