What Matthew 27:62 means

On the next day—the day after the Preparation—the chief priests and Pharisees go together to Pilate. Their concern is not repentance but practicality: they remember Jesus’ prediction of rising after three days and want to prevent any deception. Their coming to Pilate shows continued leadership activity and fear of political fallout. It reveals their unbelief and manipulative intent: rather than accept God’s plan, they seek measures to secure their narrative and prevent popular confusion.
