What Luke 22:13 means
The disciples find everything just as Jesus said and make the Passover ready. Their obedience meets Christ’s foreknowledge; the result is a prepared place for grace. The fulfillment of His detailed instructions strengthens faith—He knows and orders even small matters. “They made ready” likely includes procuring the lamb, unleavened bread, bitter herbs, and all necessary elements. Yet the most important preparation is the presence of Jesus, who will interpret the feast in light of His imminent suffering. The verse encourages trust: when we follow His word, we discover He has gone before us. The calm efficiency here contrasts with the storm of betrayal and arrest about to break upon the group.

Context
Having followed Jesus’ directions, Peter and John secure and prepare the room. This completes the preparation section and transitions the narrative from logistics to the Last Supper itself. The next scene begins with the hour arriving, Jesus reclining with the apostles, and His heartfelt declaration of desire to eat this Passover before He suffers. Immediately, He will speak of future fulfillment in the kingdom and will institute the bread and cup as memorials of His sacrificial death.
