1And he said to his disciples, It cannot be but that offences come, but woe [to him] by whom they come!
1And he said to his disciples: It is impossible that scandals should not come. But woe to him through whom they come!
1And he said unto his disciples, It is impossible but that occasions of stumbling should come; but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2It would be [more] profitable for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should be a snare to one of these little ones.
2It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should scandalize one of these little ones.
2It were well for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.
3Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he should repent, forgive him.
3Take heed to yourselves. If thy brother sin against thee, reprove him: and if he do penance, forgive him.
3Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother sin, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4And if he should sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times should return to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.
4And if he sin against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day be converted unto thee, saying: I repent: forgive him.
4And if he sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5And the apostles said to the Lord, Give more faith to us.
5And the apostles said to the Lord: Increase our faith.
5And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6But the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard [seed], ye had said to this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.
6And the Lord said: If you had faith like to a grain of mustard seed, you might say to this mulberry tree: Be thou rooted up and be thou transplanted into the sea. And it would obey you.
6And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye would say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea; and it would obey you.
7But which of you [is there] who, having a bondman ploughing or shepherding, when he comes in out of the field, will say, Come and lie down immediately to table?
7But which of you, having a servant ploughing or feeding cattle, will say to him, when he is come from the field: Immediately go. Sit down to meat.
7But who is there of you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say unto him, when he is come in from the field, Come straightway and sit down to meat;
8But will he not say to him, Prepare what I shall sup on, and gird thyself and serve me that I may eat and drink; and after that thou shalt eat and drink?
8And will not rather say to him: Make ready my supper and gird thyself and serve me, whilst I eat and drink; and afterwards thou shalt eat and drink?
8and will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9Is he thankful to the bondman because he has done what was ordered? I judge not.
9Doth he thank that servant for doing the things which he commanded him?
9Doth he thank the servant because he did the things that were commanded?
10Thus ye also, when ye shall have done all things that have been ordered you, say, We are unprofitable bondmen; we have done what it was our duty to do.
10I think not. So you also, when you shall have done all these things that are commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do.
10Even so ye also, when ye shall have done all the things that are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which it was our duty to do.
11And it came to pass as he was going up to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
11And it came to pass, as he was going to Jerusalem, he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
11And it came to pass, as they were on the way to Jerusalem, that he was passing along the borders of Samaria and Galilee.
12And as he entered into a certain village ten leprous men met him, who stood afar off.
12And as he entered into a certain town, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off.
12And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off:
13And they lifted up [their] voice saying, Jesus, Master, have compassion on us.
13And lifted up their voice, saying: Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
13and they lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14And seeing [them] he said to them, Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going they were cleansed.
14Whom when he saw, he said: Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass, as they went, they were made clean.
14And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go and show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, as they went, they were cleansed.
15And one of them, seeing that he was cured, turned back, glorifyingGod with a loud voice,
15And one of them, when he saw that he was made clean, went back, with a loud voice glorifying God.
15And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, with a loud voice glorifying God;
16and fell on [his] face at his feet giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
16And he fell on his face before his feet, giving thanks. And this was a Samaritan.
16and he fell upon his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but the nine, where [are they]?
17And Jesus answering, said: Were not ten made clean? And where are the nine?
17And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18There have not been found to return and give glory toGod save this stranger.
18There is no one found to return and give glory to God, but this stranger.
18Were there none found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger?
19And he said to him, Rise up and go thy way: thy faith has made thee well.
19And he said to him: Arise, go thy way; for thy faith hath made thee whole.
19And he said unto him, Arise, and go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
20And having been asked by the Pharisees, When is the kingdom ofGod coming? he answered them and said, The kingdom ofGod does not come with observation;
20And being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, he answering them and said: The kingdom of God cometh not with observation.
20And being asked by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God cometh, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21nor shall they say, Lo here, or, Lo there; for behold, the kingdom ofGod is in the midst of you.
21Neither shall they say: Behold here, or behold there. For lo, the kingdom of God is within you.
21neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, There! for lo, the kingdom of God is within you.
22And he said to the disciples, Days are coming, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and shall not see [it].
22And he said to his disciples: The days will come when you shall desire to see one day of the Son of man. And you shall not see it.
22And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.
23And they will say to you, Lo here, or Lo there; go not, nor follow [them].
23And they will say to you: See here, and see there. Go ye not after, nor follow them.
23And they shall say to you, Lo, there! Lo, here! go not away, nor follow after them:
24For as the lightning shines which lightens from [one end] under heaven to [the other end] under heaven, thus shall the Son of man be in his day.
24For as the lightning that lighteneth from under heaven shineth unto the parts that are under heaven, so shall the Son of man be in his day.
24for as the lightning, when it lighteneth out of the one part under the heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall the Son of man be in his day.
25But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.
25But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
25But first must he suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.
26And as it took place in the days of Noe, thus also shall it be in the days of the Son of man:
26And as it came to pass in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
26And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, even so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27they ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all [of them];
27They did eat and drink, they married wives and were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark and the flood came and destroyed them all.
27They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28and in like manner as took place in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
28Likewise as it came to pass in the days of Lot. They did eat and drink, they bought and sold, they planted and built.
28Likewise even as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed all [of them]:
29And in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
29but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all:
30after this [manner] shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.
30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man shall be revealed.
30after the same manner shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.
31In that day, he who shall be on the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not go down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
31In that hour, he that shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away: and he that shall be in the field, in like manner, let him not return back.
31In that day, he that shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away: and let him that is in the field likewise not return back.
33Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall preserve it.
33Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose it shall preserve it.
33Whosoever shall seek to gain his life shall lose it: but whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
34I say to you, In that night there shall be two [men] upon one bed; one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.
34I say to you: In that night there shall be two men in one bed. The one shall be taken and the other shall be left.
34I say unto you, In that night there shall be two men on one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35Two [women] shall be grinding together; the one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.
35Two women shall be grinding together. The one shall be taken and the other shall be left. Two men shall be in the field. The one shall be taken and the other shall be left.
35There shall be two women grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
36[Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be seized and the other let go.]
36They answering, say to him: Where, Lord?
37And answering they say to him, Where, Lord? And he said to them, Where the body [is], there the eagles will be gathered together.
37Who said to them: Wheresoever the body shall be, thither will the eagles also be gathered together.
37And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, thither will the eagles also be gathered together.
