1And he said to his disciples, It cannot be but that offences come, but woe [to him] by whom they come!

1And he said to his disciples, It is necessary for causes of trouble to come about, but unhappy is he by whom they come.

2It would be [more] profitable for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should be a snare to one of these little ones.

2It would be well for him if a great stone was put round his neck and he was dropped into the sea, before he made trouble for any of these little ones.

3Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he should repent, forgive him.

3Give attention to yourselves: if your brother does wrong, say a sharp word to him; and if he has sorrow for his sin, let him have forgiveness.

4And if he should sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times should return to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.

4And if he does you wrong seven times in a day, and seven times comes to you and says, I have regret for what I have done; let him have forgiveness.

5And the apostles said to the Lord, Give more faith to us.

5And the twelve said to the Lord, Make our faith greater.

6But the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard [seed], ye had said to this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.

6And the Lord said, If your faith was only as great as a grain of mustard seed, you might say to this tree, Be rooted up and planted in the sea; and it would be done.

7But which of you [is there] who, having a bondman ploughing or shepherding, when he comes in out of the field, will say, Come and lie down immediately to table?

7But which of you, having a servant who is ploughing or keeping sheep, will say to him, when he comes in from the field, Come now and be seated and have a meal,

8But will he not say to him, Prepare what I shall sup on, and gird thyself and serve me that I may eat and drink; and after that thou shalt eat and drink?

8Will he not say, Get a meal for me, and make yourself ready and see to my needs till I have had my food and drink; and after that you may have yours?

9Is he thankful to the bondman because he has done what was ordered? I judge not.

9Does he give praise to the servant because he did what was ordered?

10Thus ye also, when ye shall have done all things that have been ordered you, say, We are unprofitable bondmen; we have done what it was our duty to do.

10In the same way, when you have done all the things which are given you to do, say, There is no profit in us, for we have only done what we were ordered to do.

11And it came to pass as he was going up to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

11And it came about that when they were on the way to Jerusalem he went through Samaria and Galilee.

12And as he entered into a certain village ten leprous men met him, who stood afar off.

12And when he went into a certain small town he came across ten men who were lepers, and they, keeping themselves at a distance,

13And they lifted up [their] voice saying, Jesus, Master, have compassion on us.

13Said, in loud voices, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14And seeing [them] he said to them, Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going they were cleansed.

14And when he saw them he said, Go, and let the priests see you. And, while they were going, they were made clean.

15And one of them, seeing that he was cured, turned back, glorifyingGod with a loud voice,

15And one of them, when he saw that he was clean, turning back, gave praise to God in a loud voice;

16and fell on [his] face at his feet giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

16And, falling down on his face at the feet of Jesus, he gave the credit to him; and he was a man of Samaria.

17And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but the nine, where [are they]?

17And Jesus said, Were there not ten men who were made clean? where are the nine?

18There have not been found to return and give glory toGod save this stranger.

19And he said to him, Get up, and go on your way; your faith has made you well.

20And having been asked by the Pharisees, When is the kingdom ofGod coming? he answered them and said, The kingdom ofGod does not come with observation;

20And when the Pharisees put questions to him about when the kingdom of God would come, he gave them an answer and said, The kingdom of God will not come through observation:

21nor shall they say, Lo here, or, Lo there; for behold, the kingdom ofGod is in the midst of you.

21And men will not say, See, it is here! or, There! for the kingdom of God is among you.

22And he said to the disciples, Days are coming, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and shall not see [it].

22And he said to his disciples, The time will come when you will have a great desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, but you will not see it.

23And they will say to you, Lo here, or Lo there; go not, nor follow [them].

23And if they say to you, See, it is there! or, It is here! do not go away, or go after them.

24For as the lightning shines which lightens from [one end] under heaven to [the other end] under heaven, thus shall the Son of man be in his day.

24For as in a thunderstorm the bright light is seen from one end of the sky to the other, so will the Son of man be when his time comes.

25But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.

25But first, he will have to undergo much and be put on one side by this generation.

26And as it took place in the days of Noe, thus also shall it be in the days of the Son of man:

26And as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the day of the Son of man.

27they ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all [of them];

27They were feasting and taking wives and getting married, till the day of the overflowing of the waters, when Noah went into the ark, and they all came to destruction.

28and in like manner as took place in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

28In the same way, in the days of Lot; they were feasting and trading, they were planting and building;

29but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed all [of them]:

29But on the day when Lot went out of Sodom, fire came down from heaven and destruction came on them all.

30after this [manner] shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.

30So will it be in the day of the revelation of the Son of man.

31In that day, he who shall be on the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not go down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

31On that day, if anyone is on the roof of the house, and his goods are in the house, let him not go down to take them away; and let him who is in the field not go back to his house.

32Remember the wife of Lot.

32Keep in mind Lot's wife.

33Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall preserve it.

33If anyone makes an attempt to keep his life, it will be taken from him, but if anyone gives up his life, he will keep it.

34I say to you, In that night there shall be two [men] upon one bed; one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.

34I say to you, In that night there will be two men sleeping in one bed, and one will be taken away and the other let go.

35Two [women] shall be grinding together; the one shall be seized and the other shall be let go.

35Two women will be crushing grain together; one will be taken away and the other let go.

36[Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be seized and the other let go.]

37And answering they say to him, Where, Lord? And he said to them, Where the body [is], there the eagles will be gathered together.

37And they, answering him, said, Where, Lord? And he said to them, Where the body is, there will the eagles come together.
