What John 4:45 means
Upon His arrival in Galilee, Jesus was well-received by the Galilaeans. This acceptance was not primarily due to His teaching, but because they had witnessed the miraculous "things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast." Their previous exposure to His power, during the Passover feast, prepared them to welcome Him. This highlights how signs and wonders could open hearts, though their faith might still be largely based on external evidence.

Context
This verse describes Jesus' reception in Galilee, a direct follow-up to His departure from Samaria and the statement about a prophet's honor. It immediately follows verse 44. The Galilaeans' welcoming response, motivated by the signs they saw in Jerusalem, establishes the setting for Jesus' next major miracle, demonstrating His power in a region more accustomed to His presence, but perhaps still seeking signs.
