1Would that ye could bear with me in a little foolishness: but indeed ye do bear with me.
1Would that ye could bear with me in a little foolishness: but indeed ye do bear with me.
1Would that ye would bear with me [in] a little folly; but indeed bear with me.
1Would to God you could bear with some little of my folly! But do bear with me.
2For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ.
2For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ.
2For I am jealous as to you with a jealousy [which is] ofGod; for I have espoused you unto one man, to present [you] a chaste virgin to Christ.
2For I am jealous of you with the jealousy of God. For I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ.
3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ.
3But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craft, [so] your thoughts should be corrupted from simplicity as to the Christ.
3But I fear lest, as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted and fall from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or if ye receive a different spirit, which ye did not receive, or a different gospel, which ye did not accept, ye do well to bear with him.
4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or if ye receive a different spirit, which ye did not receive, or a different gospel, which ye did not accept, ye do well to bear with him.
4For if indeed he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or ye get a different Spirit, which ye have not got, or a different glad tidings, which ye have not received, ye might well bear with [it].
4For if he that cometh preacheth another Christ, whom we have not preached; or if you receive another Spirit, whom you have not received; or another gospel, which you have not received: you might well bear with him.
5For I reckon that I am not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
5For I reckon that I am not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
5For I reckon that in nothing I am behind those who are in surpassing degree apostles.
5For I suppose that I have done nothing less than the great apostles.
6But though I be rude in speech, yet am I not in knowledge; nay, in every way have we made this manifest unto you in all things.
6But though I be rude in speech, yet am I not in knowledge; nay, in every way have we made this manifest unto you in all things.
6But if [I am] a simple person in speech, yet not in knowledge, but in everything making [the truth] manifest in all things to you.
6For although I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge: but in all things we have been made manifest to you.
7Or did I commit a sin in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I preached to you the gospel of God for nought?
7Or did I commit a sin in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I preached to you the gospel of God for nought?
7Have I committed sin, abasing myself in order that ye might be exalted, because I gratuitously announced to you the glad tidings ofGod?
7Or did I commit a fault, humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached unto you the Gospel of God freely?
8I robbed other churches, taking wages of them that I might minister unto you;
8I robbed other churches, taking wages of them that I might minister unto you;
8I spoiled other assemblies, receiving hire for ministry towards you.
8I have taken from other churches, receiving wages of them for your ministry.
9and when I was present with you and was in want, I was not a burden on any man; for the brethren, when they came from Macedonia, supplied the measure of my want; and in everything I kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
9and when I was present with you and was in want, I was not a burden on any man; for the brethren, when they came from Macedonia, supplied the measure of my want; and in everything I kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
9And being present with you and lacking, I did not lazily burden any one, (for the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied what I lacked,) and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will keep myself.
9And, when I was present with you and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was wanting to me, the brethren supplied who came from Macedonia. And in all things I have kept myself from being burthensome to you: and so I will keep myself.
10As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this glorying in the regions of Achaia.
10As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this glorying in the regions of Achaia.
10[The] truth of Christ is in me that this boasting shall not be stopped as to me in the regions of Achaia.
10The truth of Christ is in me, that this glorying shall not be broken off in me in the regions of Achaia.
11Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
11Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
11Why? because I do not love you?God knows.
11Wherefore? Because I love you not? God knoweth it.
12But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them that desire an occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
12But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them that desire an occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
12But what I do, I will also do, that I may cut off the opportunity of those wishing [for] an opportunity, that wherein they boast they may be found even as we.
12But what I do, that I will do: that I may cut off the occasion from them that desire occasion: that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ.
13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ.
13For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.
13For such false apostles are deceitful workmen, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light.
14And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light.
14And [it is] not wonderful, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
14And no wonder: for Satan himself transformeth himself into an angel of light.
15It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
15It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
15It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers be transformed as the ministers of justice, whose end shall be according to their works.
16I say again, Let no man think me foolish; but ifye do, yet as foolish receive me, that I also may glory a little.
16I say again, Let no man think me foolish; but ifye do, yet as foolish receive me, that I also may glory a little.
16Again I say, Let not any one think me to be a fool; but if otherwise, receive me then even as a fool, that I also may boast myself some little.
16I say again (Let no man think me to be foolish: otherwise take me as one foolish, that I also may glory a little):
17That which I speak, I speak not after the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of glorying.
17That which I speak, I speak not after the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of glorying.
17What I speak I do not speak according to [the] Lord, but as in folly, in this confidence of boasting.
17That which I speak, I speak not according to God: but as it were in foolishness, in this matter of glorying.
18Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
18Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
18Since many boast according to flesh, I also will boast.
18Seeing that many glory according to the flesh, I will glory also.
19For ye bear with the foolish gladly, being wise yourselves.
19For ye bear with the foolish gladly, being wise yourselves.
19For ye bear fools readily, being wise.
19For you gladly suffer the foolish: whereas yourselves are wise.
20For ye bear with a man, if he bringeth you into bondage, if he devoureth you, if he taketh you captive, if he exalteth himself, if he smiteth you on the face.
20For ye bear with a man, if he bringeth you into bondage, if he devoureth you, if he taketh you captive, if he exalteth himself, if he smiteth you on the face.
20For ye bear if any one bring you into bondage, if any one devour [you], if any one get [your money], if any one exalt himself, if any one beat you on the face.
20For you suffer if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take from you, if a man be lifted up, if a man strike you on the face.
21I speak by way of disparagement, as though we had been weak. Yet whereinsoever any is bold (I speak in foolishness), I am bold also.
21I speak by way of disparagement, as though we had been weak. Yet whereinsoever any is bold (I speak in foolishness), I am bold also.
21I speak as to dishonour, as though we had been weak; but wherein any one is daring, (I speak in folly,) I also am daring.
21I seek according to dishonour, as if we had been weak in this part. Wherein if any man dare (I speak foolishly), I dare also.
22Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
22Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
22Are they Hebrews? I also. Are they Israelites? I also. Are they seed of Abraham? I also.
22They are Hebrews: so am I. They are Israelites: so am I. They are the seed of Abraham: so am I.
23Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as one beside himself) I more; in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in deaths oft.
23Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as one beside himself) I more; in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in deaths oft.
23Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as being beside myself) I above measure [so]; in labours exceedingly abundant, in stripes to excess, in prisons exceedingly abundant, in deaths oft.
23They are the ministers of Christ (I speak as one less wise): I am more; in many more labours, in prisons more frequently, in stripes above measure, in deaths often.
24Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
24Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
24From the Jews five times have I received forty [stripes], save one.
24Of the Jews five times did I receive forty stripes save one.
25Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day have I been in the deep;
25Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day have I been in the deep;
25Thrice have I been scourged, once I have been stoned, three times I have suffered shipwreck, a night and day I passed in the deep:
25Thrice was I beaten with rods: once I was stoned: thrice I suffered shipwreck: a night and a day I was in the depth of the sea.
26in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers, in perils from my countrymen, in perils from the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
26in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers, in perils from my countrymen, in perils from the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
26in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers, in perils from [my own] race, in perils from [the] nations, in perils in [the] city, in perils in [the] desert, in perils on [the] sea, in perils among false brethren;
26In journeying often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils from my own nation, in perils from the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils from false brethren:
27in labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
27in labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
27in labour and toil, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
27In labour and painfulness, in much watchings, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness:
28Besides those things that are without, there is that which presseth upon me daily, anxiety for all the churches.
28Besides those things that are without, there is that which presseth upon me daily, anxiety for all the churches.
28Besides those things that are without, the crowd [of cares] pressing on me daily, the burden of all the assemblies.
28Besides those things which are without: my daily instance, the solicitude for all the churches.
29Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is caused to stumble, and I burn not?
29Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is caused to stumble, and I burn not?
29Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is stumbled, and I burn not?
29Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is scandalized, and I am not on fire?
30If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things that concern my weakness.
30If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things that concern my weakness.
30If it is needful to boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity.
30If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things that concern my infirmity.
31The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed for evermore knoweth that I lie not.
31The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed for evermore knoweth that I lie not.
31TheGod and Father of the Lord Jesus knows — he who is blessed for ever — that I do not lie.
31The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed for ever, knoweth that I lie not.
32In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king guarded the city of the Damascenes in order to take me:
32In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king guarded the city of the Damascenes in order to take me:
32In Damascus the ethnarch of Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes shut up, wishing to take me;
32At Damascus, the governor of the nation under Aretas the king, guarded the city of the Damascenes, to apprehend me.
33and through a window was I let down in a basket by the wall, and escaped his hands.
33and through a window was I let down in a basket by the wall, and escaped his hands.
33and through a window in a basket I was let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.
33And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall: and so escaped his hands.
