1Brethren, my heart’s desire and my supplication to God is for them, that they may be saved.
1Brethren, the pleasure indeed of my heart, and my supplication that <FI>is<Fi> to God for Israel, is--for salvation;
1Brethren, my heart’s desire and my supplication to God is for them, that they may be saved.
1Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is, that they may get salvation.
2For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
2for I bear them testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge,
2For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
2For I give witness of them that they have a strong desire for God, but not with knowledge.
3For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
3for not knowing the righteousness of God, and their own righteousness seeking to establish, to the righteousness of God they did not submit.
3For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
3Because, not having knowledge of God's righteousness, and desiring to give effect to their righteousness, they have not put themselves under the righteousness of God.
4For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth.
4For Christ is an end of law for righteousness to every one who is believing,
4For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth.
4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who has faith.
5For Moses writeth that the man that doeth the righteousness which is of the law shall live thereby.
5for Moses doth describe the righteousness that <FI>is<Fi> of the law, that, `The man who did them shall live in them,'
5For Moses writeth that the man that doeth the righteousness which is of the law shall live thereby.
5For Moses says that the man who does the righteousness which is of the law will get life by it.
6But the righteousness which is of faith saith thus, Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down:)
6and the righteousness of faith doth thus speak: `Thou mayest not say in thine heart, Who shall go up to the heaven,' that is, Christ to bring down?
6But the righteousness which is of faith saith thus, Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down:)
6But the righteousness which is of faith says these words, Say not in your heart, Who will go up to heaven? (that is, to make Christ come down:)
7or, Who shall descend into the abyss? (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)
7or, `Who shall go down to the abyss,' that is, Christ out of the dead to bring up.
7or, Who shall descend into the abyss? (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)
7Or, Who will go down into the deep? (that is, to make Christ come again from the dead:)
8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:
8But what doth it say? `Nigh thee is the saying--in thy mouth, and in thy heart:' that is, the saying of the faith, that we preach;
8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:
8But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart: that is, the word of faith of which we are the preachers:
9because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:
9that if thou mayest confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and mayest believe in thy heart that God did raise him out of the dead, thou shalt be saved,
9because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:
9Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation:
10for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
10for with the heart doth <FI>one<Fi> believe to righteousness, and with the mouth is confession made to salvation;
10for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
10For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation.
11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
11for the Writing saith, `Every one who is believing on him shall not be ashamed,'
11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
11Because it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has faith in him will not be shamed.
12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him:
12for there is no difference between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord of all <FI>is<Fi> rich to all those calling upon Him,
12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him:
12And the Jew is not different from the Greek: for there is the same Lord of all, who is good to all who have hope in his name:
13for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
13for every one--whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved.'
13for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
13Because, Whoever will give worship to the name of the Lord will get salvation.
14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
14How then shall they call upon <FI>him<Fi> in whom they did not believe? and how shall they believe <FI>on him<Fi> of whom they did not hear? and how shall they hear apart from one preaching?
14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
14But how will they give worship to him in whom they have no faith? and how will they have faith in him of whom they have not had news? and how will they have news without a preacher?
15and how shall they preach, except they be sent? even as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things!
15and how shall they preach, if they may not be sent? according as it hath been written, `How beautiful the feet of those proclaiming good tidings of peace, of those proclaiming good tidings of the good things!'
15and how shall they preach, except they be sent? even as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things!
15And how will there be preachers if they are not sent? As it is said, How beautiful are the feet of those who give the glad news of good things.
16But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
16But they were not all obedient to the good tidings, for Isaiah saith, `Lord, who did give credence to our report?'
16But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
16But they have not all given ear to the good news. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has had faith in our word?
17So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
17so then the faith <FI>is<Fi> by a report, and the report through a saying of God,
17So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
17So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
18But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world.
18but I say, Did they not hear? yes, indeed--`to all the earth their voice went forth, and to the ends of the habitable world their sayings.'
18But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world.
18But I say, Did not the word come to their ears? Yes, certainly: Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.
19But I say, Did Israel not know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, With a nation void of understanding will I anger you.
19But I say, Did not Israel know? first Moses saith, `I will provoke you to jealousy by <FI>that which is<Fi> not a nation; by an unintelligent nation I will anger you,'
19But I say, Did Israel not know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, With a nation void of understanding will I anger you.
19But I say, Had Israel no knowledge? First Moses says, You will be moved to envy by that which is not a nation, and by a foolish people I will make you angry.
20And Isaiah is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I became manifest unto them that asked not of me.
20and Isaiah is very bold, and saith, `I was found by those not seeking Me; I became manifest to those not inquiring after Me;'
20And Isaiah is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I became manifest unto them that asked not of me.
20And Isaiah says without fear, Those who were not searching for me made discovery of me; and I was seen by those whose hearts were turned away from me.
21But as to Israel he saith, All the day long did I spread out my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
21and unto Israel He saith, `All the day I did stretch out My hands unto a people unbelieving and gainsaying.'
21But as to Israel he saith, All the day long did I spread out my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
21But about Israel he says; All the day my hands have been stretched out to a people whose hearts were turned away, and who put themselves against my word.
