1And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb,

1Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2in the midst of the street thereof. And on this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve manner of fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

2It flowed down the middle of the city's main street. On each side of the river grew the tree of life, which produces twelve kinds of fruit, ripening a different crop every month. The leaves of the tree are used for the healing of the nations.

3And there shall be no curse any more: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be therein: and his servants shall serve him;

3There will no longer be anything cursed. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will worship and serve him.

4and they shall see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads.

4They will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads.

5And there shall be night no more; and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

5Night will be no more. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will give them light. And they will rule as kings forever and ever.

6And he said unto me, These words are faithful and true: and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show unto his servants the things which must shortly come to pass.

6The angel said to me, 'These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must happen soon.'

7And behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book.

7'Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the person who obeys the words of the prophecy written in this book.'

8And I John am he that heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel that showed me these things.

8I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me.

9And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren the prophets, and with them that keep the words of this book: worship God.

9But he said to me, 'Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you, with your brothers the prophets, and with all who obey the words of this book. Worship God!'

10And he saith unto me, Seal not up the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand.

10Then he told me, 'Do not keep the prophetic words of this book a secret, because the time is near.'

11He that is unrighteous, let him do unrighteousness still: and he that is filthy, let him be made filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him do righteousness still: and he that is holy, let him be made holy still.

11'Let the person who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the filthy person continue to be filthy. Let the righteous person continue to do what is right, and let the holy person continue to be holy.'

12Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to each man according as his work is.

12'Look, I am coming soon! I will bring my rewards with me to give to everyone according to what they have done.'

13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

13'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.'

14Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

14Blessed are those who wash their robes so they may have the right to eat from the tree of life and may enter the city through the gates.

15Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.

15Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshippers, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright, the morning star.

16'I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.'

17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And he that heareth, let him say, Come. And he that is athirst, let him come: he that will, let him take the water of life freely.

17The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' Let everyone who hears this say, 'Come!' Let anyone who is thirsty come; and let anyone who wants to drink the water of life take it for free.

18I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto them, God shall add unto him the plagues which are written in this book:

18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy in this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book.

19and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.

19And if anyone takes any words away from the book of this prophecy, God will take away that person’s share of the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.

20He who testifieth these things saith, Yea: I come quickly. Amen: come, Lord Jesus.

20The one who testifies to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon!' Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

21The grace of the Lord Jesus be with the saints. Amen.

21May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with all God's people. Amen.
