What Revelation 22:20 means

The voice that has testified throughout speaks again: “Yea: I come quickly.” The response, “Amen: come, Lord Jesus,” captures the church’s faith and longing. Assurance and petition meet—He promises; we pray for the promised. This closing exchange teaches believers how to live: anchored in His word and eagerly desiring His appearing. The brevity intensifies the certainty. Faith answers promise with “Amen,” and hope answers nearness with “Come.” Between the already of His salvation and the not yet of His return, this becomes the church’s heartbeat and prayer until the day dawns.

Context

With the warnings complete and the invitation given, the chapter returns to Jesus’ promise of swift return and records the fitting response. This is the climax of Revelation’s pastoral purpose: to fix the church’s eyes on Christ’s coming. One verse remains—a benediction of grace—so that the last word of Scripture will be the kindness of the Lord Jesus extended to His saints.

v.19and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.

v.20This passage

v.21The grace of the Lord Jesus be with the saints. Amen.
