What Revelation 2:25 means

Jesus’ command to the faithful is simple and strong: hold fast what you have until I come. Do not yield the ground you’ve gained—your love, faith, service, and patient endurance. His coming anchors their perseverance, whether understood as His intervention in history or His final return. The point is steadfastness under pressure, not anxious striving. What they possess is sufficient when gripped firmly. Christ’s presence and promise sustain ordinary obedience over time. Stability, not novelty, is the order of the day for those already walking in the truth.

Context

This brief exhortation follows the relief of verse 24. It calls the faithful to steady perseverance, connecting present fidelity to future hope. The promises in verses 26–28 will elaborate what awaits the overcomer: shared authority with Christ and the gift of the morning star. The standard conclusion to hear what the Spirit says will close the letter and the chapter (verse 29).

v.24But to you I say, to the rest that are in Thyatira, as many as have not this teaching, who know not the deep things of Satan, as they are wont to say; I cast upon you none other burden.

v.25This passage

v.26And he that overcometh, and he that keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give authority over the nations:
