1Happy is he whose resting-place is in the secret of the Lord, and under the shade of the wings of the Most High;
1A psalm of a canticle on the sabbath day.
1He who is dwelling In the secret place of the Most High, In the shade of the Mighty lodgeth habitually,
1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2Who says of the Lord, He is my safe place and my tower of strength: he is my God, in whom is my hope.
2It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High.
2He is saying of Jehovah, `My refuge, and my bulwark, my God, I trust in Him,'
2I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.
3He will take you out of the bird-net, and keep you safe from wasting disease.
3To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night:
3For He delivereth thee from the snare of a fowler, From a calamitous pestilence.
3For he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence.
4You will be covered by his feathers; under his wings you will be safe: his good faith will be your salvation.
4Upon an instrument of ten strings, upon the psaltery: with a canticle upon the harp.
4With His pinion He covereth thee over, And under His wings thou dost trust, A shield and buckler <FI>is<Fi> His truth.
4He will cover thee with his pinions, And under his wings shalt thou take refuge: His truth is a shield and a buckler.
5You will have no fear of the evil things of the night, or of the arrow in flight by day,
5For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.
5Thou art not afraid of fear by night, Of arrow that flieth by day,
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, Nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6Or of the disease which takes men in the dark, or of the destruction which makes waste when the sun is high.
6O Lord, how great are thy works! thy thoughts are exceeding deep.
6Of pestilence in thick darkness that walketh, Of destruction that destroyeth at noon,
6For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7You will see a thousand falling by your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you.
7The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.
7There fall at thy side a thousand, And a myriad at thy right hand, Unto thee it cometh not nigh.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; Butit shall not come nigh thee.
8Only with your eyes will you see the reward of the evil-doers.
8When the wicked shall spring up as grass: and all the workers of iniquity shall appear: That they may perish for ever and ever:
8But with thine eyes thou lookest, And the reward of the wicked thou seest,
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, And see the reward of the wicked.
9Because you have said, I am in the hands of the Lord, the Most High is my safe resting-place;
9But thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.
9(For Thou, O Jehovah, <FI>art<Fi> my refuge,) The Most High thou madest thy habitation.
9For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge! Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation;
10No evil will come on you, and no disease will come near your tent.
10For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10Evil happeneth not unto thee, And a plague cometh not near thy tent,
10There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.
11For he will give you into the care of his angels to keep you wherever you go.
11But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.
11For His messengers He chargeth for thee, To keep thee in all thy ways,
11For he will give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.
12In their hands they will keep you up, so that your foot may not be crushed against a stone.
12My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.
12On the hands they bear thee up, Lest thou smite against a stone thy foot.
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13You will put your foot on the lion and the snake; the young lion and the great snake will be crushed under your feet.
13The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.
13On lion and asp thou treadest, Thou trampest young lion and dragon.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: The young lion and the serpent shalt thou trample under foot.
14Because he has given me his love, I will take him out of danger: I will put him in a place of honour, because he has kept my name in his heart.
14They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.
14Because in Me he hath delighted, I also deliver him--I set him on high, Because he hath known My name.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15When his cry comes up to me, I will give him an answer: I will be with him in trouble; I will make him free from danger and give him honour.
15They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated,
15He doth call Me, and I answer him, I <FI>am<Fi> with him in distress, I deliver him, and honour him.
15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honor him.
16With long life will he be rewarded; and I will let him see my salvation.
16That they may shew, That the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.
16With length of days I satisfy him, And I cause him to look on My salvation!
16With long life will I satisfy him, And show him my salvation.
