1The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
1By David. Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> my light and my salvation, Whom do I fear? Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> the strength of my life, Of whom am I afraid?
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; who is then a cause of fear to me? the Lord is the strength of my life; who is a danger to me?
2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
2When evil doers come near to me to eat my flesh, My adversaries and mine enemies to me, They have stumbled and fallen.
2When evil-doers, even my haters, came on me to put an end to me, they were broken and put to shame.
3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
3Though a host doth encamp against me, My heart doth not fear, Though war riseth up against me, In this I <FI>am<Fi> confident.
3Even if an army came against me with its tents, my heart would have no fear: if war was made on me, my faith would not be moved.
4One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
4One <FI>thing<Fi> I asked of Jehovah--it I seek. My dwelling in the house of Jehovah, All the days of my life, To look on the pleasantness of Jehovah, And to inquire in His temple.
4One prayer have I made to the Lord, and this is my heart's desire; that I may have a place in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, looking on his glory, and getting wisdom in his Temple.
5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
5For He hideth me in a tabernacle in the day of evil, He hideth me in a secret place of His tent, On a rock he raiseth me up.
5For in the time of trouble he will keep me safe in his tent: in the secret place of his tent he will keep me from men's eyes; high on a rock he will put me.
6And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
6And now, lifted up is my head, Above my enemies--my surrounders, And I sacrifice in His tent sacrifices of shouting, I sing, yea, I sing praise to Jehovah.
6And now my head will be lifted up higher than my haters who are round me: because of this I will make offerings of joy in his tent; I will make a song, truly I will make a song of praise to the Lord.
7Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
7Hear, O Jehovah, my voice--I call, And favour me, and answer me.
7O Lord, let the voice of my cry come to your ears: have mercy on me, and give me an answer.
8When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
8To Thee said my heart `They sought my face, Thy face, O Jehovah, I seek.'
8When you said, Make search for my face, my heart said to you, For your face will I make my search.
9Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
9Hide not Thy face from me, Turn not aside in anger Thy servant, My help Thou hast been. Leave me not, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.
9Let not your face be covered from me; do not put away your servant in wrath; you have been my help: do not give me up or take your support from me, O God of my salvation.
10When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
10When my father and my mother Have forsaken me, then doth Jehovah gather me.
10When my father and my mother are turned away from me, then the Lord will be my support.
11Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
11Shew me, O Jehovah, Thy way, And lead me in a path of uprightness, For the sake of my beholders.
11Make your way clear to me, O Lord, guiding me by the right way, because of my haters.
12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
12Give me not to the will of my adversaries, For risen against me have false witnesses, And they breathe out violence to me.
12Do not give me into their hands, because false witnesses have come out against me, and men breathing destruction.
