1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; who is then a cause of fear to me? the Lord is the strength of my life; who is a danger to me?

1A psalm for David himself. Unto thee will I cry, O Lord: O my God, be not thou silent to me: lest if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

2When evil-doers, even my haters, came on me to put an end to me, they were broken and put to shame.

2Hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication, when I pray to thee; when I lift up my hands to thy holy temple.

3Even if an army came against me with its tents, my heart would have no fear: if war was made on me, my faith would not be moved.

3Draw me not away together with the wicked; and with the workers of iniquity destroy me not: Who speak peace with their neighbour, but evils are in their hearts.

4One prayer have I made to the Lord, and this is my heart's desire; that I may have a place in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, looking on his glory, and getting wisdom in his Temple.

4Give them according to their works, and according to the wickedness of their inventions. According to the works of their hands give thou to them: render to them their reward.

5For in the time of trouble he will keep me safe in his tent: in the secret place of his tent he will keep me from men's eyes; high on a rock he will put me.

5Because they have not understood the works of the Lord, and the operations of his hands: thou shalt destroy them, and shalt not build them up.

6And now my head will be lifted up higher than my haters who are round me: because of this I will make offerings of joy in his tent; I will make a song, truly I will make a song of praise to the Lord.

6Blessed be the Lord, for he hath heard the voice of my supplication.

7O Lord, let the voice of my cry come to your ears: have mercy on me, and give me an answer.

7The Lord is my helper and my protector: in him hath my heart confided, and I have been helped. And my flesh hath flourished again, and with my will I will give praise to him.

8When you said, Make search for my face, my heart said to you, For your face will I make my search.

8The Lord is the strength of his people, and the protector of the salvation of his anointed.

9Let not your face be covered from me; do not put away your servant in wrath; you have been my help: do not give me up or take your support from me, O God of my salvation.

9Save, O Lord, thy people, and bless thy inheritance: and rule them and exalt them for ever.

10When my father and my mother are turned away from me, then the Lord will be my support.
