1Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence:

1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, and standeth not in the way of sinners, and sitteth not in the seat of scorners;

1Happy is the man who does not go in the company of sinners, or take his place in the way of evil-doers, or in the seat of those who do not give honour to the Lord.

2But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night.

2 But his delight is in Jehovah's law, and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

2But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and whose mind is on his law day and night.

3And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season. And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whatsoever he shall do shall prosper.

3 And he [is] as a tree planted by brooks of water, which giveth its fruit in its season, and whose leaf fadeth not; and all that he doeth prospereth.

3He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time, whose leaves will ever be green; and he will do well in all his undertakings.

4Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth.

4 The wicked are not so; but are as the chaff which the wind driveth away.

4The evil-doers are not so; but are like the dust from the grain, which the wind takes away.

5Therefore the wicked shall not rise again in judgment: nor sinners in the council of the just.

5 Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

5For this cause there will be no mercy for sinners when they are judged, and the evil-doers will have no place among the upright,

6For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish.

6 For Jehovah knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

6Because the Lord sees the way of the upright, but the end of the sinner is destruction.
