What Luke 8:45 means
Luke 8:45 shows Jesus asking who touched him; when all denied, Peter explained that many people were pressing and crowding him. The disciples misinterpret, thinking Jesus was asking about physical contact that might hinder his movement. Their explanation reflects ordinary, practical concerns and misses the spiritual significance. Jesus’ question, however, signals he perceived that power had gone out of him and that a distinct act of faith had occurred. The verse prepares for the woman’s confession and Jesus’ public affirmation of her faith.

Context
This verse follows the woman’s silent healing. Jesus’ inquiry shifts attention from the large crowd to a single faith-act. The disciples’ misunderstanding shows how easily one can overlook personal stories amid public ministry, and it frames the forthcoming personal encounter between Jesus and the healed woman.
