What Luke 24:8 means
At the angels’ words, the women remember what Jesus had said. Memory is more than recall; it is recognition that His prior teaching explains the present moment. Their confusion yields to clarity as Jesus’ promises rise in their minds. Faith often advances when God brings His word to remembrance in the moment of need. The women had heard plainly before, yet grief had obscured it; now God’s reminder opens their understanding. This memory will empower their testimony. They will not spread rumors born of frenzy, but report fulfillment based on Jesus’ own words and the empty tomb they have seen.

Context
Verses 6–7 presented the content of Jesus’ prior predictions. Now verse 8 describes the women’s inward shift: from perplexity to remembrance. This is crucial, because what follows in verses 9–10 is their faithful report to the eleven and the rest. Luke shows that witness arises from a word-formed understanding of events. The flow continues from inner conviction to outward proclamation. Yet, as the next verses reveal, even such sound testimony will initially be met with doubt, highlighting both the unexpected nature of the resurrection and the patient way God confirms it through multiple witnesses.
