What Luke 24:43 means
Jesus takes the fish and eats before them. This public act seals the reality of His bodily resurrection. He is the same Jesus—recognizable, tangible—yet now beyond death’s reach. By eating, He shows that the future life He brings is not vaporous but anchored in restored creation. The disciples’ faith rests not on inward impressions but on shared, sensible evidence. The Lord stoops to human need, giving proofs that build the foundation for bold witness. What began in terror now resolves into peace and certainty, preparing them to hear and carry out His commission to the nations.

Context
With the act of eating (v. 43), the chain of evidences is complete: wounds seen and touched (vv. 39–40), food requested and consumed (vv. 41–43). This readies the disciples for teaching. Verses 44–49 will provide the theological frame: everything fulfilled in the Law, Prophets, and Psalms; minds opened; the message of suffering, resurrection, repentance, and forgiveness; their role as witnesses; and the promise of power from on high. The narrative moves from proof to purpose.
