1Ye shall make you no idols, neither shall ye rear you up a graven image, or a pillar, neither shall ye place any figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am Jehovah your God.

1Ye shall make yourselves no idols, neither rear you up for yourselves carved image, or statue, nor shall ye set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it; for I am Jehovah yourGod.

1I am the Lord your God. You shall not make to yourselves any idol or graven thing: neither shall you erect pillars, nor set up a remarkable stone in your land, to adore it. For I am the Lord your God.

1`Ye do not make to yourselves idols; and graven image or standing image ye do not set up to yourselves; and a stone of imagery ye do not put in your land, to bow yourselves to it; for I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah your God.

2Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Jehovah.

2Ye shall observe my sabbaths, and my sanctuary shall ye reverence: I am Jehovah.

2Keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. I am the Lord.

2`My sabbaths ye do keep, and My sanctuary ye do reverence; I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.

3If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

3If ye walk in my statutes, and observe my commandments and do them,

3If you walk in my precepts, and keep my commandments, and do them, I will give you rain in due seasons.

3`If in My statutes ye walk, and My commands ye keep, and have done them,

4then I will give your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

4then I will give your rain in the season thereof, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit;

4And the ground shall bring forth its increase: and the trees shall be filled with fruit.

4then I have given your rains in their season, and the land hath given her produce, and the tree of the field doth give its fruit;

5And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

5and your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing-time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely.

5The threshing of your harvest shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land without fear.

5and reached to you hath the threshing, the gathering, and the gathering doth reach the sowing-<FI> time<Fi> ; and ye have eaten your bread to satiety, and have dwelt confidently in your land.

6And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

6And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will put away the evil beasts out of the land; and the sword shall not go through your land.

6I will give peace in your coasts: you shall sleep, and there shall be none to make you afraid. I will take away evil beasts: and the sword shall not pass through your quarters.

6`And I have given peace in the land, and ye have lain down, and there is none causing trembling; and I have caused evil beasts to cease out of the land, and the sword doth not pass over into your land.

7And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.

7And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword;

7You shall pursue your enemies: and they shall fall before you.

7`And ye have pursued your enemies, and they have fallen before you by the sword;

8And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

8and five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; and your enemies shall fall beside you by the sword.

8Five of yours shall pursue a hundred others: and a hundred of you ten thousand. Your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

8and five of you have pursued a hundred, and a hundred of you do pursue a myriad; and your enemies have fallen before you by the sword.

9And I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and will establish my covenant with you.

9And I will turn my face towards you and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

9I will look on you, and make you increase: you shall be multiplied, and I will establish my covenant with you.

9`And I have turned unto you, and have made you fruitful, and have multiplied you, and have established My covenant with you;

10And ye shall eat old store long kept, and ye shall bring forth the old because of the new.

10And ye shall eat old store, and clear away the old because of the new.

10You shall eat the oldest of the old store: and, new coming on, you shall cast away the old.

10and ye have eaten old <FI>store<Fi> , and the old because of the new ye bring out.

11And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.

11And I will set my habitation among you; and my soul shall not abhor you;

11I will set my tabernacle in the midst of you: and my soul shall not cast you off.

11`And I have given My tabernacle in your midst, and My soul doth not loathe you;

12And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.

12and I will walk among you, and will be yourGod, and ye shall be to me a people.

12I will walk among you, and will be your God: and you shall be my people.

12and I have walked habitually in your midst, and have become your God, and ye--ye are become My people;

13I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bars of your yoke, and made you go upright.

13I am Jehovah yourGod, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you walk upright.

13I am the Lord your God: who have brought you out of the land of the Egyptians, that you should not serve them: and who have broken the chains of your necks, that you might go upright.

13I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah your God, who have brought you out of the land of the Egyptians, from being their servants; and I break the bars of your yoke, and cause you to go erect.

14But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;

14But if ye hearken not unto me, and do not all these commandments,

14But if you will not hear me, nor do all my commandments:

14`And if ye do not hearken to Me, and do not all these commands;

15and if ye shall reject my statutes, and if your soul abhor mine ordinances, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant;

15and if ye shall despise my statutes, and if your soul shall abhor mine ordinances, so that ye do not all my commandments, that ye break my covenant,

15If you despise my laws, and contemn my judgments so as not to do those things which are appointed by me, and to make void my covenant:

15and if at My statutes ye kick, and if My judgments your soul loathe, so as not to do all My commands--to your breaking My covenant--

16I also will do this unto you: I will appoint terror over you, even consumption and fever, that shall consume the eyes, and make the soul to pine away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

16I also will do this unto you — I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and fever, which shall cause the eyes to fail, and the soul to waste away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

16I also will do these things to you. I will quickly visit you with poverty, and burning heat, which shall waste your eyes, and consume your lives. You shall sow your seed in vain, which shall be devoured by your enemies.

16I also do this to you, and I have appointed over you trouble, the consumption, and the burning fever, consuming eyes, and causing pain of soul; and your seed in vain ye have sowed, and your enemies have eaten it;

17And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be smitten before your enemies: they that hate you shall rule over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

17And I will set my face against you, that ye may be routed before your enemies; they that hate you shall have dominion over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

17I will set my face against you, and you shall fall down before your enemies: and shall be made subject to them that hate you. You shall flee when no man pursueth you.

17and I have set My face against you, and ye have been smitten before your enemies; and those hating you have ruled over you, and ye have fled, and there is none pursuing you.

18And if ye will not yet for these things hearken unto me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.

18And if for this ye hearken not unto me, I will punish you sevenfold more for your sins,

18But if you will not yet for all this obey me: I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.

18`And if unto these ye hearken not to Me, --then I have added to chastise you seven times for your sins;

19And I will break the pride of your power: and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass;

19and I will break the arrogance of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as bronze,

19And I will break the pride of your stubbornness: and I will make to you the heaven above as iron, and the earth as brass.

19and I have broken the pride of your strength, and have made your heavens as iron, and your earth as brass;

20and your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.

20and your strength shall be spent in vain, and your land shall not yield its produce; and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.

20Your labour shall be spent in vain: the ground shall not bring forth her increase: nor the trees yield their fruit.

20and consumed hath been your strength in vain, and your land doth not give her produce, and the tree of the land doth not give its fruit.

21And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

21And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me, I will bring sevenfold more plagues upon you according to your sins.

21If you walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you for your sins.

21`And if ye walk with Me <FI>in<Fi> opposition, and are not willing to hearken to Me, then I have added to you a plague seven times, according to your sins,

22And I will send the beast of the field among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your ways shall become desolate.

22And I will send the beasts of the field among you, that they may rob you of your children, and cut off your cattle, and make you few in number; and your streets shall be desolate.

22And I will send in upon you the beasts of the field, to destroy you and your cattle, and make you few in number: and that your highways may be desolate.

22and sent against you the beast of the field, and it hath bereaved you; and I have cut off your cattle, and have made you few, and your ways have been desolate.

23And if by these things ye will not be reformed unto me, but will walk contrary unto me;

23And if ye will not be disciplined by me through these, but walk contrary unto me,

23And if even so you will not amend, but will walk contrary to me:

23`And if by these ye are not instructed by Me, and have walked with Me <FI>in<Fi> opposition,

24then will I also walk contrary unto you; and I will smite you, even I, seven times for your sins.

24then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will smite you, even I, sevenfold for your sins.

24I also will walk contrary to you, and will strike you seven times for your sins.

24then I have walked--I also--with you in opposition, and have smitten you, even I, seven times for your sins;

25And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute the vengeance of the covenant; and ye shall be gathered together within your cities: and I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

25And I will bring a sword upon you that avengeth with the vengeance of the covenant, and ye shall be gathered together into your cities, and I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

25And I will bring in upon you the sword that shall avenge my covenant. And when you shall flee into the cities, I will send the pestilence in the midst of you. And you shall be delivered into the hands of your enemies,

25and I have brought in on you a sword, executing the vengeance of a covenant; and ye have been gathered unto your cities, and I have sent pestilence into your midst, and ye have been given into the hand of an enemy.

26When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

26When I break the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver you the bread again by weight; and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

26After I shall have broken the staff of your bread: so that ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and give it out by weight: and you shall eat, and shall not be filled,

26`In My breaking to you the staff of bread, then ten women have baked your bread in one oven, and have given back your bread by weight; and ye have eaten, and are not satisfied.

27And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;

27And if for this ye hearken not to me, but walk contrary unto me,

27But if you will not for all this hearken to me, but will walk against me

27`And if for this ye hearken not to Me, and have walked with Me in opposition,

28then I will walk contrary unto you in wrath; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins.

28then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven-fold for your sins.

28I will also go against you with opposite fury: and I will chastise you with seven plagues for your sins,

28then I have walked with you in the fury of opposition, and have chastised you, even I, seven times for your sins.

29And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

29And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

29So that you shall eat the flesh of your sons and of your daughters.

29`And ye have eaten the flesh of your sons; even flesh of your daughters ye do eat.

30And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your sun-images, and cast your dead bodies upon the bodies of your idols; and my soul shall abhor you.

30And I will lay waste your high places, and cut down your sun-pillars, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols; and my soul shall abhor you.

30I will destroy your high places, and break your idols. You shall fall among the ruins of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.

30And I have destroyed your high places, and cut down your images, and have put your carcases on the carcases of your idols, and My soul hath loathed you;

31And I will make your cities a waste, and will bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors.

31And I will lay waste your cities and desolate your sanctuaries; and I will not smell your sweet odours.

31Insomuch that I will bring your cities to be a wilderness: and I will make your sanctuaries desolate: and will receive no more your sweet odours.

31and I have made your cities a waste, and have made desolate your sanctuaries, and I smell not at your sweet fragrances;

32And I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

32And I will bring the land into desolation; that your enemies who dwell there in may be astonished at it.

32And I will destroy your land: and your enemies shall be astonished at it, when they shall be the inhabitants thereof.

32and I have made desolate the land, and your enemies, who are dwelling in it, have been astonished at it.

33And you will I scatter among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you: and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

33And I will scatter you among the nations, and will draw out the sword after you; and your land shall be desolation, and your cities waste.

33And I will scatter you among the Gentiles: and I will draw out the sword after you. And your land shall be desert, and your cities destroyed.

33And you I scatter among nations, and have drawn out after you a sword, and your land hath been a desolation, and your cities are a waste.

34Then shall the land enjoy its sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye are in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy its sabbaths.

34Then shall the land enjoy its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, when ye are in your enemies' land; then shall the land rest, and enjoy its sabbaths.

34Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths all the days of her desolation. When you shall be

34`Then doth the land enjoy its sabbaths--all the days of the desolation, and ye in the land of your enemies--then doth the land rest, and hath enjoyed its sabbaths;

35As long as it lieth desolate it shall have rest, even the rest which it had not in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.

35All the days of the desolation it shall rest, [the days in] which it did not rest on your sabbaths, when ye dwelt therein.

35In the enemy's land, she shall keep a sabbath, and rest in the sabbaths of her desolation: because she did not rest in your sabbaths, when you dwelt therein.

35all the days of the desolation it resteth that which it hath not rested in your sabbaths in your dwelling on it.

36And as for them that are left of you, I will send a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies: and the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as one fleeth from the sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.

36And as to those that remain of you — I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, that the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them, and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth;

36And as to them that shall remain of you I will send fear in their hearts in the countries of their enemies. The sound of a flying leaf shall terrify them: and they shall flee as it were from the sword. They shall fall, when no man pursueth them.

36`And those who are left of you--I have also brought a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies, and the sound of a leaf driven away hath pursued them, and they have fled--flight from a sword--and they have fallen, and there is none pursuing.

37And they shall stumble one upon another, as it were before the sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

37and they shall stumble one over another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth; and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

37And they shall every one fall upon their brethren as fleeing from wars: none of you shall dare to resist your enemies.

37And they have stumbled one on another, as from the face of a sword, and there is none pursuing, and ye have no standing before your enemies,

38And ye shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

38And ye shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

38You shall perish among the Gentiles: and an enemy's land shall consume you.

38and ye have perished among the nations, and the land of your enemies hath consumed you.

39And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

39And they that remain of you shall waste away through their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also through the iniquities of their fathers shall they waste away with them.

39And if of them also some remain, they shall pine away in their iniquities, in the land of their enemies: and they shall be afflicted for the sins of their fathers, and their own.

39`And those who are left of you--they consume away in their iniquity, in the lands of your enemies; and also in the iniquities of their fathers, with them they consume away.

40And they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me, and also that, because they walked contrary unto me,

40And they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, through their unfaithfulness wherein they were unfaithful to me, and also that they have walked contrary unto me,

40Until they confess their iniquities, and the iniquities of their ancestors, whereby they have transgressed against me, and walked contrary unto me.

40`And--they have confessed their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they have trespassed against Me, and also, that they have walked with Me, in opposition,

41I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies: if then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity;

41so that I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity,

41Therefore I also will walk against them, and bring them into their enemies' land until their uncircumcised mind be ashamed. Then shall they pray for their sins.

41also I walk to them in opposition, and have brought them into the land of their enemies--or then their uncircumcised heart is humbled, and then they accept the punishment of their iniquity, --

42then will I remember my covenant with Jacob; and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

42I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

42And I will remember my covenant, that I made with Jacob, and Isaac, and Abraham. I will remember also the land:

42then I have remembered My covenant <FI>with<Fi> Jacob, and also My covenant <FI>with<Fi> Isaac, and also My covenant <FI>with<Fi> Abraham I remember, and the land I remember.

43The land also shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its sabbaths, while it lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they rejected mine ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

43For the land shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its sabbaths, when it is in desolation without them; and they shall accept the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they despised my judgments, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

43Which when she shall be left by them, shall enjoy her sabbaths, being desolate for them. But they shall pray for their sins, because they rejected my judgments, and despised my laws.

43`And--the land is left of them, and doth enjoy its sabbaths, in the desolation without them, and they accept the punishment of their iniquity, because, even because, against My judgments they have kicked, and My statutes hath their soul loathed,

44And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them; for I am Jehovah their God;

44And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not despise them, and will not abhor them, to make an end of them utterly, to break my covenant with them, for I am Jehovah theirGod.

44And yet for all that when they were in the land of their enemies, I did not cast them off altogether. Neither did I so despise them that they should be quite consumed: and I should make void my covenant with them. For I am the Lord their God.

44and also even this, in their being in the land of their enemies, I have not rejected them, nor have I loathed them, to consume them, to break My covenant with them; for I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah their God; --

45but I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am Jehovah.

45But I will remember toward them the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, that I might be theirGod: I am Jehovah.

45And I will remember my former covenant, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, in the sight of the Gentiles, to be their God. I am the Lord. These are the judgments, and precepts, and laws, which the Lord gave between him and the children of Israel, in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.

45then I have remembered for them the covenant of the ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations to become their God; I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.'

46These are the statutes and ordinances and laws, which Jehovah made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by Moses.

46These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which Jehovah made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.

46(not in this translation)

46These <FI>are<Fi> the statutes, and the judgments, and the laws, which Jehovah hath given between Him and the sons of Israel, in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.
