1Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, evenJesus;
1For this reason, holy brothers, marked out to have a part in heaven, give thought to Jesus the representative and high priest of our faith;
1Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of [the] heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus,
1Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the apostle and chief priest of our profession, Christ Jesus,
2who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house.
2Who kept faith with God who gave him his place, even as Moses did in all his house.
2who is faithful to him that has constituted him, as Moses also in all his house.
2being stedfast to Him who did appoint him, as also Moses in all his house,
3For he hath been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by so much as he that built the house hath more honor than the house.
3And it was right for this man to have more honour than Moses, even as the builder of a house has more honour than the house.
3For he has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by how much he that has built it has more honour than the house.
3for of more glory than Moses hath this one been counted worthy, inasmuch as more honour than the house hath he who doth build it,
4For every house is builded by some one; but he that built all things is God.
4For every house has a builder; but the builder of all things is God.
4For every house is built by some one; but he who has built all things [is]God.
4for every house is builded by some one, and He who the all things did build <FI>is<Fi> God,
5And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken;
5And Moses certainly kept faith as a servant, in all his house, and as a witness of those things which were to be said later;
5And Moses indeed [was] faithful in all his house, as a ministering servant, for a testimony of the things to be spoken after;
5and Moses indeed <FI>was<Fi> stedfast in all his house, as an attendant, for a testimony of those things that were to be spoken,
6but Christ as a son, over his house; whose house are we, if we hold fast our boldness and the glorying of our hope firm unto the end.
6But Christ as a son, over his house; whose house are we, if we keep our hearts fixed in the glad and certain hope till the end.
6but Christ, as Son over his house, whose house are we, if indeed we hold fast the boldness and the boast of hope firm to the end.
6and Christ, as a Son over his house, whose house are we, if the boldness and the rejoicing of the hope unto the end we hold fast.
7Wherefore, even as the Holy Spirit saith, To-day if ye shall hear his voice,
7And so, as the Holy Spirit says, Today if you let his voice come to your ears,
7Wherefore, even as says the Holy Spirit, To-day if ye will hear his voice,
7Wherefore, (as the Holy Spirit saith, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear--
8Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,
8Be not hard of heart, as when you made me angry, on the day of testing in the waste land,
8harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness;
8ye may not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of the temptation in the wilderness,
9Where your fathers triedmeby proving me, And saw my works forty years.
9When your fathers put me to the test, and saw my works for forty years.
9where your fathers tempted [me], by proving [me], and saw my works forty years.
9in which tempt Me did your fathers, they did prove Me, and saw My works forty years;
10Wherefore I was displeased with this generation, And said, They do always err in their heart: But they did not know my ways;
10So that I was angry with this generation, and I said, Their hearts are in error at all times, and they have no knowledge of my ways;
10Wherefore I was wroth with this generation, and said, They always err in heart; and they have not known my ways;
10wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, Always do they go astray in heart, and these have not known My ways;
11As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.
11And being angry I made an oath, saying, They may not come into my rest.
11so I swore in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest.
11so I sware in My anger, If they shall enter into My rest--!')
12Take heed, brethren, lest haply there shall be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God:
12My brothers, take care that there is not by chance in any one of you an evil heart without belief, turning away from the living God:
12See, brethren, lest there be in any one of you a wicked heart of unbelief, in turning away from [the] livingGod.
12See, brethren, lest there shall be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in the falling away from the living God,
13but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called To-day; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin:
13But give comfort to one another every day as long as it is still Today; so that no one among you may be made hard by the deceit of sin:
13But encourage yourselves each day, as long as it is called To-day, that none of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
13but exhort ye one another every day, while the To-day is called, that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of the sin,
14for we are become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm unto the end:
14For if we keep the substance of the faith which we had at the start, even till the end, we have a part with Christ;
14For we are become companions of the Christ if indeed we hold the beginning of the assurance firm to the end;
14for partakers we have become of the Christ, if the beginning of the confidence unto the end we may hold fast,
15while it is said, To-day if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
15As it is said, Today if you will let his voice come to your ears, be not hard of heart, as when you made him angry.
15in that it is said, To-day if ye will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation;
15in its being said, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear, ye may not harden your hearts, as in the provocation,'
16For who, when they heard, did provoke? nay, did not all they that came out of Egypt by Moses?
16Who made him angry when his voice came to them? was it not all those who came out of Egypt with Moses?
16(for who was it, who, having heard, provoked? but [was it] not all who came out of Egypt by Moses?
16for certain having heard did provoke, but not all who did come out of Egypt through Moses;
17And with whom was he displeased forty years? was it not with them that sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
17And with whom was he angry for forty years? was it not with those who did evil, who came to their deaths in the waste land?
17And with whom was he wroth forty years? [Was it] not with those who had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
17but with whom was He grieved forty years? was it not with those who did sin, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?
18And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that were disobedient?
18And to whom did he make an oath that they might not come into his rest? was it not to those who went against his orders?
18And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to those who had not hearkened to the word?
18and to whom did He swear that they shall not enter into His rest, except to those who did not believe? --
