1Christ has truly made us free: then keep your free condition and let no man put a yoke on you again.

1In the freedom, then, with which Christ did make you free--stand ye, and be not held fast again by a yoke of servitude;

1Stand fast and be not held again under the yoke of bondage.

2See, I Paul say to you, that if you undergo circumcision, Christ will be of no use to you.

2lo, I Paul do say to you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing;

2Behold, I Paul tell you, that if you be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

3Yes, I give witness again to every man who undergoes circumcision, that he will have to keep all the law.

3and I testify again to every man circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law;

3And I testify again to every man circumcising himself that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

4You are cut off from Christ, you who would have righteousness by the law; you are turned away from grace.

4ye were freed from the Christ, ye who in law are declared righteous; from the grace ye fell away;

4You are made void of Christ, you who are justified in the law: you are fallen from grace.

5For we through the Spirit by faith are waiting for the hope of righteousness.

5for we by the Spirit, by faith, a hope of righteousness do wait for,

5For we in spirit, by faith, wait for the hope of justice.

6Because in Christ Jesus, having circumcision or not having circumcision are equally of no profit; but only faith working through love.

6for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith through love working.

6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing nor uncircumcision: but faith that worketh by Charity.

7You were going on well; who was the cause of your not giving ear to what is true?

7Ye were running well; who did hinder you--not to obey the truth?

7You did run well. What hath hindered you, that you should not obey the truth?

8This ready belief did not come from him who had made you his.

8the obedience <FI>is<Fi> not of him who is calling you!

8This persuasion is not from him that calleth you.

9A little leaven makes a change in all the mass.

9a little leaven the whole lump doth leaven;

9A little leaven corrupteth the whole lump.

10I am certain about you in the Lord, that you will be of no other mind; but he who is troubling you will have his punishment, whoever he is.

10I have confidence in regard to you in the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded; and he who is troubling you shall bear the judgment, whoever he may be.

10I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will not be of another mind: but he that troubleth you shall bear the judgment, whosoever he be.

11But I, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still attacked? then has the shame of the cross been taken away.

11And I, brethren, if uncircumcision I yet preach, why yet am I persecuted? then hath the stumbling-block of the cross been done away;

11And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the scandal of the cross made void.

12My desire is that they who give you trouble might even be cut off themselves.

12O that even they would cut themselves off who are unsettling you!

12I would they were even cut off, who trouble you.

13Because you, brothers, were marked out to be free; only do not make use of your free condition to give the flesh its chance, but through love be servants one to another.

13For ye--to freedom ye were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve ye one another,

13For you, brethren, have been called unto liberty. Only make not liberty an occasion to the flesh: but by charity of the spirit serve one another.

14For all the law is made complete in one word, even in this, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself.

14for all the law in one word is fulfilled--in this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;'

14For all the law is fulfilled in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

15But if you are given to fighting with one another, take care that you are not the cause of destruction one to another.

15and if one another ye do bite and devour, see--that ye may not by one another be consumed.

15But if you bite and devour one another: take heed you be not consumed one of another.

16But I say, Go on in the Spirit, and you will not come under the rule of the evil desires of the flesh.

16And I say: In the Spirit walk ye, and the desire of the flesh ye may not complete;

16I say then: Walk in the spirit: and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

17For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; because these are opposite the one to the other; so that you may not do the things which you have a mind to do.

17for the flesh doth desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that ye may will--these ye may not do;

17For the flesh lusteth against the spirit: and the spirit against the flesh: For these are contrary one to another: so that you do not the things that you would.

18But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

18and if by the Spirit ye are led, ye are not under law.

18But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law.

19Now the works of the flesh are clear, which are these: evil desire, unclean things, wrong use of the senses,

19And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

19Now the works of the flesh are manifest: which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury,

20Worship of images, use of strange powers, hates, fighting, desire for what another has, angry feelings, attempts to get the better of others, divisions, false teachings,

20idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects,

20Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects,

21Envy, uncontrolled drinking and feasting, and such things: of which I give you word clearly, even as I did in the past, that they who do such things will have no part in the kingdom of God.

21envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit.

21Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, a quiet mind, kind acts, well-doing, faith,

22And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,

22But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity,

23Gentle behaviour, control over desires: against such there is no law.

23meekness, temperance: against such there is no law;

23Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law.

24And those who are Christ's have put to death on the cross the flesh with its passions and its evil desires.

24and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;

24And they that are Christ's have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.

25If we are living by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us be guided.

25if we may live in the Spirit, in the Spirit also we may walk;

25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26Let us not be full of self-glory, making one another angry, having envy of one another.

26let us not become vain-glorious--one another provoking, one another envying!

26Let us not be made desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
