What Galatians 3:8 means
Paul personifies Scripture as foreseeing God’s plan: the Gentiles would be justified by faith. When God promised Abraham that all nations would be blessed in him, He was announcing the gospel in advance. That ancient promise contains the seed of the good news—God would extend righteousness and blessing beyond Israel, through Abraham’s line, to the world. This shows that the inclusion of the Gentiles is not an afterthought but part of God’s design from the start. The blessing comes the same way Abraham received righteousness—through believing God—now focused on Christ, the promised descendant through whom the nations are blessed.

Context
Having identified the true children of Abraham as those of faith (verse 7), Paul now shows that Scripture anticipated a worldwide blessing to the nations through Abraham (verse 8). Verse 9 will conclude that believers share Abraham’s blessing. Then, in verses 10–12, Paul will introduce the counterpart: reliance on the law places people under a curse because the law demands total, continual obedience. This prepares for verses 13–14, where Paul explains how Christ removes that curse and channels Abraham’s blessing and the promised Spirit to both Jews and Gentiles through faith.
