Galatians 1

1Paul, apostle, not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ, andGod [the] Father who raised him from among [the] dead,

2and all the brethren with me, to the assemblies of Galatia.

3Grace to you, and peace, fromGod [the] Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ,

4who gave himself for our sins, so that he should deliver us out of the present evil world, according to the will of ourGod and Father;

5to whom [be] glory to the ages of ages. Amen.

6I wonder that ye thus quickly change, from him that called you in Christ's grace, to a different gospel,

6I wonder that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ, unto another gospel.

6I am surprised that you are being so quickly turned away from him whose word came to you in the grace of Christ, to good news of a different sort;

7which is not another [one]; but there are some that trouble you, and desire to pervert the glad tidings of the Christ.

7Which is not another: only there are some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

7Which is not another sort: only there are some who give you trouble, desiring to make changes in the good news of Christ.

8But if even we or an angel out of heaven announce as glad tidings to you [anything] besides what we have announced as glad tidings to you, let him be accursed.

8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.

8But even if we, or an angel from heaven, were to be a preacher to you of good news other than that which we have given you, let there be a curse on him.

9As we have said before, now also again I say, If any one announce to you as glad tidings [anything] besides what ye have received, let him be accursed.

9As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema.

9As we have said before, so say I now again, If any man is a preacher to you of any good news other than that which has been given to you, let there be a curse on him.

10For do I now seek to satisfy men orGod? or do I seek to please men? If I were yet pleasing men, I were not Christ's bondman.

10For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

10Am I now using arguments to men, or God? or is it my desire to give men pleasure? if I was still pleasing men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

11But I let you know, brethren, [as to] the glad tidings which were announced by me, that they are not according to man.

11For I give you to understand, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.

11Because I say to you, my brothers, that the good news of which I was the preacher is not man's.

12For neither did I receive them from man, neither was I taught [them], but by revelation of Jesus Christ.

12For neither did I receive it of man: nor did I learn it but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

12For I did not get it from man, and I was not given teaching in it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.

13For ye have heard [what was] my conversation formerly in Judaism, that I excessively persecuted the assembly ofGod, and ravaged it;

13For you have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion: how that, beyond measure, I persecuted the church of God and wasted it.

13For news has come to you of my way of life in the past in the Jews' religion, how I was cruel without measure to the church of God, and did great damage to it:

14and advanced in Judaism beyond many [my] contemporaries in my nation, being exceedingly zealous of the doctrines of my fathers.

14And I made progress in the Jew's religion above many of my equals in my own nation, being more abundantly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

14And I went farther in the Jews' religion than a number of my generation among my countrymen, having a more burning interest in the beliefs handed down from my fathers.

15But whenGod, who set me apart [even] from my mother's womb, and called [me] by his grace,

15But when it pleased him who separated me from my mother's womb and called me by his grace,

15But when it was the good pleasure of God, by whom I was marked out even from my mother's body, through his grace,

16was pleased to reveal his Son in me, that I may announce him as glad tidings among the nations, immediately I took not counsel with flesh and blood,

16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles: immediately I condescended not to flesh and blood.

16To give the revelation of his Son in me, so that I might give the news of him to the Gentiles; then I did not take the opinion of flesh and blood,

17nor went I up to Jerusalem to those [who were] apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and again returned to Damascus.

17Neither went I to Jerusalem, to the apostles who were before me: but I went into Arabia, and again I returned to Damascus.

18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to make acquaintance with Peter, and I remained with him fifteen days;

18Then, after three years, I went to Jerusalem to see Peter: and I tarried with him fifteen days.

19but I saw none other of the apostles, but James the brother of the Lord.

20Now what I write to you, behold, beforeGod, I do not lie.

20Now God is witness that the things which I am writing to you are true.

21Then I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

22But I was unknown personally to the assemblies of Judaea which [are] in Christ;

23only they were hearing that he who persecuted us formerly now announces the glad tidings of the faith which formerly he ravaged:

23But they had heard only: He, who persecuted us in times past doth now preach the faith which once he impugned.

23Only it came to their ears that he who at one time was cruel to us is now preaching the faith which before had been attacked by him;

24and they glorifiedGod in me.

24And they glorified God in me.

24And they gave glory to God in me.
