1And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt take them to heart among all the nations whither Jehovah thyGod hath driven thee,
1Now when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse which I have put before you, if the thought of them comes back to your minds, when you are living among the nations where the Lord your God has sent you,
1Now when all these things shall be come upon thee, the blessing or the curse, which I have set forth before thee, and thou shalt be touched with repentance of thy heart among all the nations, into which the Lord thy God shall have scattered thee,
2and shalt return to Jehovah thyGod, and shalt hearken to his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy sons, with all thy heart and with all thy soul;
2And your hearts are turned again to the Lord your God, and you give ear to his word which I give you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul:
2And shalt return to him, and obey his commandments, as I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul:
3that then Jehovah thyGod will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will gather thee again from all the peoples whither Jehovah thyGod hath scattered thee.
3Then the Lord will have pity on you, changing your fate, and taking you back again from among all the nations where you have been forced to go.
3The Lord thy God will bring back again thy captivity, and will have mercy on thee, and gather thee again out of all the nations, into which he scattered thee before.
4Though there were of you driven out unto the end of the heavens, from thence will Jehovah thyGod gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee;
4Even if those who have been forced out are living in the farthest part of heaven, the Lord your God will go in search of you, and take you back;
4If thou be driven as far as the poles of heaven, the Lord thy God will fetch thee back from hence,
5and Jehovah thyGod will bring thee into the land that thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
5Placing you again in the land of your fathers as your heritage; and he will do you good, increasing you till you are more in number than your fathers were.
5And will take thee to himself, and bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it: and blessing thee, he will make thee more numerous than were thy fathers.
6And Jehovah thyGod will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love Jehovah thyGod with all thy heart and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
6And the Lord your God will give to you and to your seed a circumcision of the heart, so that, loving him with all your heart and all your soul, you may have life.
6The Lord thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed: that thou mayst love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, that thou mayst live.
7And Jehovah thyGod will put all these curses on thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, who have persecuted thee.
7And the Lord your God will put all these curses on those who are against you, and on your haters who put a cruel yoke on you.
7And he will turn all these curses upon thy enemies, and upon them that hate and persecute thee.
8But thou shalt return and hearken to the voice of Jehovah, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
8And you will again give ear to the voice of the Lord, and do all his orders which I have given you today.
8But thou shalt return, and hear the voice of the Lord thy God, and shalt do all the commandments which I command thee this day:
9And Jehovah thyGod will make thee abound in every work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, for good; for Jehovah will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers;
9And the Lord your God will make you fertile in all good things, blessing the work of your hands, and the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your cattle, and the fruit of your land: for the Lord will have joy in you, as he had in your fathers:
9And the Lord thy God will make thee abound in all the works of thy hands, in the fruit of thy womb, and in the fruit of thy cattle, in the fruitfulness of thy land, and in the plenty of all things. For the Lord will return to rejoice over thee in all good things, as he rejoiced in thy fathers:
10if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thyGod, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if thou turn to Jehovah thyGod with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
10If you give ear to the voice of the Lord your God, keeping his orders and his laws which are recorded in this book of the law, and turning to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
10Yet so if thou hear the voice of the Lord thy God, and keep his precepts and ceremonies, which are written in this law: and return to the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.
11For this commandment which I command thee this day is not too wonderful for thee, neither is it far off.
11For these orders which I have given you today are not strange and secret, and are not far away.
11This commandment, that I command thee this day is not above thee, nor far off from thee:
12It is not in the heavens, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to the heavens, and bring it to us, that we should hear it and do it?
12They are not in heaven, for you to say, Who will go up to heaven for us and give us knowledge of them so that we may do them?
12Nor is it in heaven, that thou shouldst say: Which of us can go up to heaven to bring it unto us, and we may hear and fulfil it in work?
13And it is not beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we should hear it and do it?
13And they are not across the sea, for you to say, Who will go over the sea for us and give us news of them so that we may do them?
13Nor is it beyond the sea: that thou mayst excuse thyself, and say: Which of us can cross the sea, and bring it unto us: that we may hear, and do that which is commanded?
14For the word is very near to thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
14But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may do it.
14But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart, that thou mayst do it.
15See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil,
15See, I have put before you today, life and good, and death and evil;
15Consider that I have set before thee this day life and good, and on the other hand death and evil:
16in that I command thee this day to love Jehovah thyGod, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that thou mayest live and multiply, and that Jehovah thyGod may bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
16In giving you orders today to have love for the Lord your God, to go in his ways and keep his laws and his orders and his decisions, so that you may have life and be increased, and that the blessing of the Lord your God may be with you in the land where you are going, the land of your heritage.
16That thou mayst love the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways, and keep his commandments and ceremonies and judgments, and bless thee in the land, which thou shalt go in to possess.
17But if thy heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and thou shalt bow down to othergods and serve them;
17But if your heart is turned away and your ear is shut, and you go after those who would make you servants and worshippers of other gods:
17But if thy heart be turned away, so that thou wilt not hear, and being deceived with error thou adore strange gods, and serve them:
18I denounce unto you this day that ye shall surely perish; ye shall not prolong your days upon the land whereunto thou passest over the Jordan to possess it.
18I give witness against you this day that destruction will certainly be your fate, and your days will be cut short in the land where you are going, the land of your heritage on the other side of Jordan.
18I foretell thee this day that thou shalt perish, and shalt remain but a short time in the land, to which thou shalt pass over the Jordan, and shalt go in to possess it.
19I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you: life and death have I set before you, blessing and cursing: choose then life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed,
19Let heaven and earth be my witnesses against you this day that I have put before you life and death, a blessing and a curse: so take life for yourselves and for your seed:
19I call heaven and earth to witness this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose therefore life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20in loving Jehovah thyGod, in hearkening to his voice, and in cleaving to him — for this is thy life and the length of thy days — that thou mayest dwell in the land which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
20In loving the Lord your God, hearing his voice and being true to him: for he is your life and by him will your days be long: so that you may go on living in the land which the Lord gave by an oath to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
20And that thou mayst love the Lord thy God, and obey his voice, and adhere to him (for he is thy life, and the length of thy days,) that thou mayst dwell in the land, for which the Lord swore to thy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that he would give it them.
