What Acts 18:7 means
Paul relocates to the house of Titus Justus, a God-worshiper whose home is next door to the synagogue. The shift is both practical and symbolic: the message moves outside synagogue control yet remains within earshot of those who still might listen. Hospitality becomes a base for mission. Proximity means relationships are not severed; curious hearers can easily come. The Lord often advances the gospel through open homes and willing hosts. This verse shows that setbacks do not stop the work; they redirect it. Where one door shuts, another opens, and the setting of ministry—house rather than synagogue—can itself testify that God welcomes all who seek Him.

Context
Following Paul’s solemn break with the resistant synagogue, he does not leave Corinth but establishes a nearby center for teaching. Verse 7 bridges the transition from synagogue to house-church environment. It prepares for the next remarkable report: even the synagogue ruler, Crispus, believes in the Lord, and many Corinthians follow. Thus, the narrative quickly turns from rejection to fruitful response, showing God’s sovereignty in placing workers and opening hearts.
v.6And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
v.7This passage
v.8And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
