1Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians. In God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
1Paul and Silvanus and Timotheus to the assembly of Thessalonians inGod our Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.
1Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2Grace unto you: and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Grace to you, and peace fromGod our Father, and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.
2Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3We are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith groweth exceedingly and the charity of every one of you towards each other aboundeth.
3We ought to thankGod always for you, brethren, even as it is meet, because your faith increases exceedingly, and the love of each one of you all towards one another abounds;
3It is right for us to give praise to God at all times for you, brothers, because of the great increase of your faith, and the wealth of your love for one another;
4So that we ourselves also glory in you in the churches of God, for your patience and faith, and in all your persecutions and tribulations: which you endure
4so that we ourselves make our boast in you in the assemblies ofGod for your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations, which ye are sustaining;
4So that we ourselves take pride in you in the churches of God for your untroubled mind and your faith in all the troubles and sorrows which you are going through;
5For an example of the just judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which also you suffer.
5a manifest token of the righteous judgment ofGod, to the end that ye should be counted worthy of the kingdom ofGod, for the sake of which ye also suffer;
5Which is a clear sign of the decision which God in his righteousness has made; to give you a part in his kingdom, for which you have undergone this pain;
6Seeing it is a just thing with God to repay tribulation to them that trouble you:
6if at least [it is a] righteous thing withGod to render tribulation to those that trouble you,
6For it is an act of righteousness on God's part to give trouble as their reward to those who are troubling you,
7And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power:
7and to you that are troubled repose with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with [the] angels of his power,
7And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus comes from heaven with the angels of his power in flames of fire,
8In a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who know notGod, and those who do not obey the glad tidings of our Lord Jesus Christ;
8To give punishment to those who have no knowledge of God, and to those who do not give ear to the good news of our Lord Jesus:
9Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his power:
9who shall pay the penalty [of] everlasting destruction from [the] presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his might,
9Whose reward will be eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,
10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints and to be made wonderful in all them who have believed; because our testimony was believed upon you in that day.
10when he shall have come to be glorified in his saints, and wondered at in all that have believed, (for our testimony to you has been believed,) in that day.
10At his coming, when he will have glory in his saints, and will be a cause of wonder in all those who had faith (because our witness among you had effect) in that day.
11Wherefore also we pray always for you: That our God would make you worthy of his vocation and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith in power:
11To which end we also pray always for you, that ourGod may count you worthy of the calling, and fulfil all [the] good pleasure of [his] goodness and [the] work of faith with power,
11For this reason, you are ever in our prayers, that you may seem to our God such as may have a part in his purpose and that by his power he will make all his good purpose, and the work of faith, complete;
12That the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
12so that the name of our Lord Jesus [Christ] may be glorified in you and ye in him, according to the grace of ourGod, and of [the] Lord Jesus Christ.
12So that glory may be given to the name of our Lord Jesus through you, and you may have glory in him, by the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
