What 2 Thessalonians 1:10 means

When the Lord comes, He will be glorified in His saints and marveled at among all who believed—including the Thessalonians, since they received the apostles’ testimony. Christ’s glory will be seen not only in His own majesty but also in the transformed people who belong to Him; their salvation will be the mirror reflecting His greatness. Wonder will fill the believing community as they behold what He has accomplished. This confirms that faith in the apostolic gospel unites them to that future. The verse centers hope not on escape alone but on the exaltation of Jesus in and through His redeemed people.

Context

This verse provides the positive counterpart to the judgments of verses 8–9. It affirms that the Thessalonians, as believers in the apostolic message, have a share in that coming glory. With the Day of the Lord in view, Paul then turns in verses 11–12 to pray that God would prepare them now—counting them worthy of their calling and empowering every good resolve and work of faith—so that the name of the Lord Jesus is glorified in them.

v.9who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

v.10This passage

v.11To which end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfil every desire of goodness and every work of faith, with power;
