Paul adds a third companion: another brother repeatedly proven earnest in many things, now even more so because of his great confidence in the Corinthians. His track record shows reliability under varied circumstances. His increased zeal reflects positive expectations about Corinth’s response. Including him widens the circle of accountability and support. The Corinthians are to see that respected men trust them and are eager to work alongside them. This builds mutual confidence and paves the way for a wholehearted completion of the collection.
