What 1 Peter 5:10 means
Peter blesses them with a rich promise. The “God of all grace” is the source of every help they need. He has called them to His eternal glory in Christ, so their present hardships are not the final word. Suffering lasts only “a little while” compared to what lies ahead. God Himself will perfect, establish, and strengthen them—completing what is lacking, making them firm, and fortifying their souls. This is not wishful thinking but covenant assurance rooted in God’s character and call. The path of suffering leads to glory because it is bound up with Christ, in whom God’s gracious purposes reach their goal.

Context
After urging resistance to the devil, Peter anchors endurance in God’s own action and promise. Verse 10 functions as a benediction of hope, immediately followed by a doxology in verse 11. The movement from struggle to praise mirrors the letter’s theme: suffering now, glory to come. This prepares the way for Peter’s personal closing remarks and greetings in verses 12–14, where he reiterates the letter’s purpose and affirms the unity of the broader church.
