What 1 Corinthians 16:23 means
Paul blesses the church with the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace is the source and sustenance of all Christian life—from giving and hospitality to steadfast faith and loving service. It is personal, coming from the Lord Jesus, who is alive and active toward his people. After warnings and instructions, this benediction assures the Corinthians that what God requires, he also supplies through Christ. The chapter’s practical calls rest finally on divine favor, not human merit. Grace binds the diverse churches together and equips them to walk in the obedience Paul has laid out.

Context
This benediction follows the solemn word about love for the Lord and the cry “Maranatha” (v.22). Having set the boundary of true allegiance, Paul prays the Lord’s grace over the Corinthians. The final verse (v.24) will add Paul’s personal love for them in Christ. The flow moves from accountability before the coming Lord, to sustaining grace from the Lord, to the apostle’s own heartfelt affection—ending the letter with hope and warmth.
