בָּטַח

Batah describes the act of placing confidence or reliance in a person, often God, but also in human strength, alliances, or idols. It carries the semantic range of being secure, confident, or even careless, depending on the object of trust. When trust is placed in God, batah conveys a sense of security and unwavering hope, implying a freedom from fear and anxiety as a result of that confidence. In contrast, placing trust in anything other than God is consistently portrayed as foolish, leading to disappointment and destruction.
