1And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Jehovah, and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary.

1Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan was standing at his right side to accuse him.

2And Jehovah said unto Satan, Jehovah rebuke thee, O Satan; yea, Jehovah that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

2The LORD said to Satan, 'The LORD rebuke you, Satan! May the LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Isn't this man like a burning stick snatched from the fire?'

3Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel.

3Now Joshua was wearing filthy clothes as he stood there before the angel.

4And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take the filthy garments from off him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with rich apparel.

4The angel said to those standing around him, 'Take those filthy clothes off him.' Then he said to Joshua, 'See, I have taken away your sin, and I will dress you in expensive, clean clothes.'

5And I said, Let them set a clean mitre upon his head. So they set a clean mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments; and the angel of Jehovah was standing by.

5Then I said, 'Put a clean turban on his head.' So they put a clean turban on his head and dressed him in clean clothes while the angel of the LORD stood nearby.

6And the angel of Jehovah protested unto Joshua, saying,

6The angel of the LORD then gave this solemn charge to Joshua:

7Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou also shalt judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee a place of access among these that stand by.

7'This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: If you walk in my ways and do the work I have assigned to you, then you will govern my house and look after my courtyards. I will give you the right to come directly to me, just like these angels who stand here.'

8Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee; for they are men that are a sign: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.

8'Listen, Joshua the high priest, you and your colleagues sitting before you—you are all symbolic of things to come. I am going to bring my servant, who is called the Branch.'

9For, behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; upon one stone are seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

9'Look at the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on this one stone. I will engrave an inscription on it,' says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, 'and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.'

10In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, shall ye invite every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig-tree.

10'On that day,' says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, 'each of you will invite your neighbor to sit with you in peace under your own grapevine and your own fig tree.'
