1A canticle for David himself, when the house was built after the captivity. Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: sing to the Lord, all the earth.

1Come, let us sing aloud to Jehovah, let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation;

1O come, let us make songs to the Lord; sending up glad voices to the Rock of our salvation.

2Sing ye to the Lord and bless his name: shew forth his salvation from day to day.

2 Let us come before his face with thanksgiving; let us shout aloud unto him with psalms.

2Let us come before his face with praises; and make melody with holy songs.

3Declare his glory among the Gentiles: his wonders among all people.

3 For Jehovah is a greatGod, and a great king above allgods.

3For the Lord is a great God, and a great King over all gods.

4For the Lord is great, and exceedingly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also:

4The deep places of the earth are in his hand; and the tops of the mountains are his.

5For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens.

5 The sea is his, and he made it, and his hands formed the dry [land].

5The sea is his, and he made it; and the dry land was formed by his hands.

6Praise and beauty are before him: holiness and majesty in his sanctuary.

6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker.

6O come, let us give worship, falling down on our knees before the Lord our Maker.

7Bring ye to the Lord, O ye kindreds of the Gentiles, bring ye to the Lord glory and honour:

7 For he is ourGod; and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. To-day if ye hear his voice,

7For he is our God; and we are the people to whom he gives food, and the sheep of his flock. Today, if you would only give ear to his voice!

8Bring to the Lord glory unto his name. Bring up sacrifices, and come into his courts:

8 Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, as [in] the day of Massah, in the wilderness;

8Let not your hearts be hard, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the waste land;

9Adore ye the Lord in his holy court. Let all the earth be moved at his presence.

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.

9When your fathers put me to the test and saw my power and my work.

10Say ye among the Gentiles, the Lord hath reigned. For he hath corrected the world, which shall not be moved: he will judge the people with justice.

10 Forty years was I grieved with the generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways;

10For forty years I was angry with this generation, and said, They are a people whose hearts are turned away from me, for they have no knowledge of my ways;

11Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad, let the sea be moved, and the fulness thereof:

11 So that I swore in mine anger, that they should not enter into my rest.

11And I made an oath in my wrath, that they might not come into my place of rest.

12The fields and all things that are in them shall be joyful. Then shall all the trees of the woods rejoice
